Wonder if Pegboy will show. I also think gutsman is pretty solid at the game.

That actually reminds me; I believe pegboy said there were no score exploits in UN Squadron, but I'm not 100% sure.  Should probably talk to him.  The supply convoys can be milked to a degree, I just assume they stop spawning at some point.  I'll have to test it before the month ends.
 

I believe scoring is not exploitable in UN squadron although I need to spend more time with it to see if it can be broken. Super R-Type is a good choice if you just want to track high scores, I know that one is not busted (but please make the contest requirement to be played on normal instead of easy)

Also, I will be participating in the Super Mario Kart time trails since the courses are all short and I don't need long, uninterrupted periods of time to do them. Best racing game ever made IMO.

Even though I love some of the other Mario Kart games for various reasons I think Super Mario Kart is still the best. Mario Kart 8 would be a very close 2nd in my opinion though. That game is a ton of fun.

The biggest thing I've been grappling with is Contra III.  Hard or normal?  I'm thinking normal, one credit, default lives, progress + low score.  Hard might frustrate people too much.  Medium will give people an actual shot at 1CC with strategies to lower your score coming into play.

 

Oh man id recommend normal for contra iii. Some people will definitely be turned off from hard difficulty and at this point we're trying to encourage participation not discourage it. Contra gurus can show their mad skills still through their scores.

That's true.  Hard with 7 lives is probably still significantly harder than normal with 3

Yeah, Contra III on hard is tough. I'll be interested to play low score as that's something I've never tried. I've completed the game on hard without dying and my bro and I have beat it on normal with a double no death.

Looks like I might not get the time I want to play Mario Kart. Going away for 4 or 5 days here and then have a work cycle right at the end of the month. Might be a day or two between now and then I have free. Hopefully there isn't too much else in the way.

All I got so far is 1:12 or something on Ghost valley which looks to be the easiest course. No way I'm catching you. Might be able to sneak into the top 3 if I get a solid afternoon in and no one else improves their time. I was just pulling your leg about already having better times and not posting. You've got a very comfortable lead at this point though.. 20 seconds is pretty significant.

Well I just checked and the sum of my best times for these tracks 6'49"59... With that said I haven't played in forever. But now that I've been called out. I'll see what I can do

That said, if you are truly as good as those times, then I welcome the wrecking ball to my face.  Friendly competition is a good thing!  

 

Do you still have your original times from when you were younger on your cart?  Or did you write them down somewhere?  I wish I had written mine down because I ended up using the clear code to clear all my times several years back.  Either way, dipping below 6'50"00 is insane!

 

 

Man I played it a TON when I was 10 or so but haven't played it very much since then until this past month. Cool that you've accomplished that recently!

A friend and I used to play a lot in high school. We had a contest for the first to 100 wins in battle mode. That can get intense. I'm having a good time playing again now.

Mario Circuit 3 and Bowsers Castle 3 are probably my worst tracks in this game. I hate these two!

Those thwomps can certainly wreck an otherwise good run! Very frustrating!

Bowser's Castle 3 is BY FAR the worst course in the game, so many runs I had ruined by completely unavoidable walls of thwomps. That's the only track I despise in the game, and I don't recall any others than have such a bullshit obstacle.

The thowmps wouldn't be bad, if they were on any sort of pattern. They just do whatever they want.
