Photoshop! I knew it!!!! KIDDING! Again, great score man. I'll be interested in where you are grinding as so far I am way below your stage by stage projections.

Probably nothing new,but not only can you get more life at the cost of chips during boss fights by pausing the game and pressing up,but you can sacrifice life bars for chips by pausing and pressing down. Pretty cool although the higher end weapons use too many chips per use in my opinion.

In general, there should only be two boss battles that use chips, and otherwise that bar should be full.  But yes, life to chip transfer on those two bosses is worth it.

^The only two battles I mainly use them on are the robot with the satellite bolo things and the second form of the final boss. Gotten a lot better at this game. I can now make it to the second part of the 5th stage on just one life. That portion of the stage royally sucks. The programmers went crazy on the hand grip things.

I guess everybody has their strengths and weaknesses, but I thought those hand grips were nothing compared to the conveyor belt runs of Stage 3 and that same portion of Stage 5.

True. I don't have too many problems with the conveyer belts (even though they just helped end a good run) ,but for some reason I just get fidgety and end up messing up on my climbs with those grips. I must be missing something or I just suck at this game as lots of people have already posted scores with the game finished. I have yet to finish the game. The first four stages aren't too bad,but the fifth stage is ridiculous. And I don't know what it is,but I have a hard time avoiding damage in this game, especially when it comes to some of the more agile enemies.

And there are still many scores posted using the original rules. This week's competition could get pretty messed up very soon.

Well, hats-off to arnopoly. If I gave it another good run, I could almost certainly bring my 497k up to 500k, but it would be tough to make up the rest of the difference.

I am looking forward to comparing notes in the after-action thread.

Pretty funny game 'à la Ninja Gaiden', although it is too easy. 1-life really gave it the twist we needed for a contest. I hadn't much time to push anything great though, this score was made with a very conservative run.

LOL!

In all seriousness, I had comfortable time left (30-40) in every phases except stages 1 and 2, and I was a bit sloppy in my point pressing spots all around. I only had the time to play 3 full games post getting somewhat comfortable with the game and finding my spots. One game Thursday, another Friday and my score run yesterday. I'm pretty sure arnpoly only had a better point pressing spot in 2-1.

I wish I had some play time to go full monty and take all risks on time, but I couldn't really play more than one full game per play session, so I was careful (too much) to not screw it. All in all, I'm satisfied with my score, but I'm a bit disappointed I didn't even tried to gave it all.

1-life run. The game was better than I expected, but I didn't have the time this week to do much more.

I don't think the game is Battletoads hard, but I don't think it's really easy. I still haven't beaten it yet. Probably give up on it for now as I have other games I want to play. I just don't see where all these big scores are coming from. Best I managed to do on the first stage is 50k,and some people got 75k? I don't see it....at all. Where the F is everyone point pressing?

Stage 1-1 = 4 heads monsters in a row just after the belt conveyor.

Just the first three of those heads.  ThE fourth one wastes too much time.

Also, you need to finish the level AND the boss with full health and chips to break 75k

I point pressed at the four heads. I guess I wasn't fast enough because I ususally finished the stage with 10-15 seconds and would be nowhere near 60-65k or whatever your totals would be before the boss fight. I never had full health before or after the boss fight, but I usually did have full chips.
