Hello NintendoAge and welcome to the 2012 NintendoAge Weekly Contests!  For the third straight year I will be managing the leaderboard for the weekly contests, so please feel free to send me a PM if you have any questions, comments, or concerns about the leaderboard.  Once again, guillavoie and myself will be moderators for the contests, so please feel free to send either of us a PM if you have any questions, comments, or concerns about anything related to the contests.  Good luck to everyone who participates!

Here are the point calculations for the weekly contests:

1st - 10 points
2nd - 8 points
3rd - 6 points
4th - 4 points
5th - 2 points
Participation - 1 point

Here's how the contests will work this year.  We are going to break up the contests into 6 blocks that will last 6 weeks each.  The winner of each block will be entered into a tournament of champions at the end of the year.  Each block will be comprised of 6 games from different video game genres.  I will make a specific leaderboard for each genre and the winner of each genre will earn a spot in the tournament of champions at the end of the year.

Also, there will be no partcipation score requirement to earn a participation point this year.  All you have to do is submit a pisture of your score and you will earn a participation point.

**AWARDS ICONS**

As many of you may have noticed, many users on the site have awards icons listed below their profile information on the forums.  "How do I earn one of these icons" you say?  Well, if you finish in first, second, or third place on the contest leaderboard at the end of the year, you will earn one of the following icons:

1st place overall: Legend of Zelda Magical Sword icon with the year below it
2nd place overall: Legend of Zelda Master Sword icon with the year below it
3rd place overall: Legend of Zelda Fairy Sword icon with the year below it

For anyone who meets the participation points in any contest throughout the year will earn the following icon:

Block 6 will start on Sunday, September 16.

Block 6 will start on September 16 and will be a very special block. Twin Galaxies record holder Tom Votava (rdrunner here on NA) is going to challenge us for Block 6 and has come up with the games and rules for all six games. He has some fun challenges and scenarios in store for everyone, which should make Block 6 very exciting

Just a note to everyone that a lot of you can still qualify for a tournament spot through the genre leaderboards. We have six open tournament spots, one for each genre, that need to be filled in the coming weeks. A few of the leaders in the genre leaderboards have already secured a tournament spot, which means the next highest person on each genre leaderboard who has not secured a tournament spot can earn one. Everyone check the genre leaderboards to see where you stand and go for that tournament spot

That mean I cant particpate

You don't have much points in the genres so block 6 is your last and best option for a tournament spot.

Well at least I can play 2 of the games this block. Will give me a chance to get good at Bayou Billy (I suck at using the controller for those shooter stages, crosshairs move too fast), and hopefully won't miss Bubble Bobble, that low score thing sounds like it'll be really tough, trying to avoid everything that gives points, I look forward to that - in fact, gave it a quick test run to see how this'll be, crazy hard challenge, just bursting bubbles nets you 10 points each time, gotta kill the baddies, but don't want them to cluster up, but then don't want to take too long either, I lasted a few stages. But will keep these aside until their contests come up, play now even for practice will ruin the fun later.

I have a few questions
1. I don't own Klax and dont have the emulator. Anyone got a copy?
2. what is point racking?

Point racking is intentionally farming for points (Ex. waiting in a specific location and repeatedly killing enemies that respawn without advancing through the level).
