Hey everyone!  This week's game is going to be Monster in my Pocket.  We played this game last year, but didn't get too many participants, so I figured we would play it again and hope some more people give it a try.  Here are the rules:

• 1 life only
• 1 player only
• Choose whichever character you want
• No point racking
• Participation: 500

The contest ends Sunday, 10/23/11 at 10 PM NA time.  Your user name must be in the picture for your score to be valid.  The entire TV screen, or computer monitor if you are playing on an emulator, MUST be in the picture for the score to be valid.  No partial screenshots will be considered or accepted.  Good luck everyone and have fun!

Ohhh. I forgot about this game. My cousin and I used to play it all the time. Hopefully I can find sometime to throw a score in!

I just finally fixed one of my 3 broken NES's at campus. Hopefully i can track down this game and start joing in on these contest!

Just a quick heads up for anyone who may be close to one lifeing this game (it's really fucking easy IMO) Be sure to have your camera ready. Just after defeating the 2nd form of the boss (in the TV) you have about 5 seconds or so before your score disappears. You may want to get another pic during the Stage 6 Clear bonus points screen just to be safe.

I managed to score 200 points between the end of the last boss's first form and the end of the game, so if you miss the pic, you're only out about 200 points or so.

 

Gave it a half dozen or so tries, best I could do so far. Having trouble playing this one with my controller, double jumping is particularly difficult to pull off, which is how I died by the gremlin boss, didn't double jump when I pressed the button again. Even so, I've only played through this game all the way a few times many years ago, did manage once to get through with only 1 death then, but can't see me pulling off a no deather without lots of practice. Its a moderately easy game to beat, but not without a few deaths.

To go along with no point racking, we should add that if you fall down near the end of the first area in level 2, it counts as a death. Otherwise you get to go through that part again, racking up points. I am pretty sure that is the only level you can go through more then once.

 

Okay, increase in score. But I'm going to have to figure out how best to get through that hall in level 5 with all those bone-throwing Manticores if I expect to no death this one. For me this game has two very dangerous sections (excluding any spots where I can fall to my death due to failed double jumps), the first in level 3 with the Triton thingies jumping out of the water, so difficult not to get knocked in, the second very hard part is that hall with those Manticores.

Actually beat the game twice this early morning too, first with 3 deaths, second time with only 1 death, damned Manticore tore my monster up. Should've grabbed that screwed that I skipped over this time, but then it didn't save me last time.

Thanks guys. Once you memorize the enemy positions & attack patterns, this game is pretty easy to beat with one life.

I just no deathed this game also. Was recording it on a new webcam that I got (Logitech HD Pro C910), and while this webcam takes pretty good video normal stuff (far better than my built in webcam), still not so good when recording a game being played on a screen, and the bad, sound is terrible (compared to my built in webcam), distorted, small jarbled sound efffects and most not even picking up, how disappointing. Maybe I just need to make some adjustments to it. Took a pic of my score once I got to the last battle against tv man but it didn't come out very well (can't even tell what the score is), my camera is really messed up after I dropped it recently (first it beeps me telling me the fresh battery is dead, then after I try it again its fine, but pic came out like shit), but I'll post the pic later anyway along with the video. If you can't tell what the score is in the pic I got video (will upload completely later), if that's not good enough, so be it.
