Looks like it's passed it's goal, can't wait for this to end and to get one. I'm tempted to get 2 of them, so I won't have to worry about ever needing another one.

Are you guys hoping to make more once the Kickstarter is finished? Or make enough to fill other orders if people miss out on the Kickstarter?

I think this is a great idea, and I'm happy to see people engineering new ways to enhance old systems. I am definitely considering backing this, and am happy to see that it has funded, but I have a number of reasons for not funding this as of yet. First, I see rumblings about the Game Genie not being supported or possibly requiring an adapter. Second, I have concerns about converting to Famicom, as I'd like to mod my NES for Famicom sound and find/cobble together an adapter that would be long enough to plug in the RAM adapter. Finally, and this one is just me, but I like pushing down my NES games; it's part of the NES's charm. I've had my same system since 1990 and only once replaced the pins, and that was because I messed them up myself. Anyway, just wanted to present my feedback and say I think it's great what you've made!

I primarily use a Powerpak which includes a build in 5-code Game Genie. I like pushing the game down also, but for this kind of reliability, that's a trade off I'm willing to make!

I always turn the system on without pushing the game down, if it works in the up position you shouldn't be pushing it down anyways, as it's just unnecessary wear on the pins.

Pushing down the cart is a NES distinctive, but so is that damn blinking light.  As an owner of multiple NES Toasters (eight, I think), I think I can suck up trading off the ability of one them to load carts the traditional way to secure greater reliability.

I backed as well and it looks great!

I am concerned about Game Genie support also. Does it work well with the BLW as far as inserting and removing it? Right now, I use the GG with every cart (after cleaning the game) because it gives me a reliable connection and makes me feel better about keeping possible gunk on the cart out of the slot. Of course I also like the cheat codes so I plan to keep using the Genie. Is it a bad idea to use it a lot with the BLW?

This. I'm kind of a cheat code junkie, if you catch my drift...

I'm wondering if the plastic tab on the GG will get in the way of the top bar considering these load strait instead of crooked. I could modify one of my Genies (I have three of them) by removing the plastic tab and adding a ribbon to it for easy removal. But I'd prefer not to do this if it isn't needed.

Backed, never bothered with anything on kickstarter before, but this is too good to pass up.

The video was brilliant to show how easy it is to install. I'm tempted by this, even though I primarily use a toploader and my childhood frontloader is in pieces. I might have to get a nice-looking frontloader, a BLW, and finally bite the bullet on a Powerpak.

Very nice design, totally backed. Though I'm interested in how the fit is on the edge connector. A lot of the new NES connectors have a death grip on carts that have been a point of concern for collectors

They actually loosen up after a few dozen insertions. Not zero force, but you can pull the carts out more easily as time goes on. Eventually they will suffer the same fate as the original connector.

This new kickstarter item is a permanent fix.

I was talking about the edge connectors used the new 3rd party multi-system, not the replacement ZIF connectors. The multi-system use cheap off the shelf connectors that aren't the exact dimentions and have a poor fit on carts.

Not sure which ones you're referring to, but all the NES clones I've tried had decent edge connectors.

I'm on the fence. I support the project, but I personally don't really need it. After boiling the pin connector, the system is working pretty darn good now, and I just keep the PowerPak in it all the time anyway.

Just found about this and I'm totally stoked. Not sure why Nintendo didn't do it this way in the first place.

Have you guys already started shipping to Kickstarter backers? I'd love to buy one or two ASAP.

I imagine they will begin selling out of some store front after they ship out the backer units. I filled out my survey last month. Backer units should start shipping late March or early April. I thought about buying two but I only got one since I don't keep multiples of consoles. If you have a kickstarted accountyou can post a message there, I think.

He's the same guy who makes the Omega (Consolized Neo Geo MVS system), you can pre-order from his site as well

Good to know. I don't understand the $500+ Neo Geo products though. Not the most budget friendlt console to collect for.

To be fair, that's a custom mold he designed from scratch and had manufactured. Also it beats paying $500 each for the good AES games

Now you can just spend under $100 or so for the MVS equivalent. Stick them in some shockboxes with custom inserts from southtown homebrew, and you have killer looking carts on the shelf for a fraction of the price.

They were trying to simulate a VCR, the most recognizable piece of home electronics that didn't resemble a traditional video game console (those became virtual pariahs since the crash of '83.)

In hindsight, it was a bit of a flawed design, but at the time they had pretty solid reasoning.
