Does anyone know of any games besides the few below that have a cryptic continue system?  Hudson Soft seemed to be a fan of this practice but I am sure there are many other games.  Please let me know any games I have not listed below.  Any game or system just curious how many we can come up with.  Thanks.

Alex Kidd in Miracle World (SMS) - If you lose all your lives, have over $800, and wish to continue, hold Up on the D-Pad, and press Button 2 8 times.
JJ & Jeff (TG16) - hold buttons I & II and hit start at game over screen to continue.
Milon's Secret Castle (NES) - Hold down left and press start when you die after getting the first crystal.

Very interesting.  If you are able please elaborate on what the code is.  From what I see it is the following.

Controller #1:
Hold down Select

Controller #2:
Hold A + B (while still holding Select on Controller #1)

Controller #1:
Press the Start button 2x.

SMB, when you loose your last life, press a+start on the main title screen and you'll continue where you left off. (Edit: Last world you left off at least)

Not really cryptic, but not a lot of people know you can continue on SMB.

This is actually a great example.  It is cryptic if there is no continue screen after you lose all your lives as far as I am concerned.

I wonder how many of these continue codes were just debug codes that were accidentally left into the game lol.

I'm not looking to buy or sell anything at the moment. Sorry if I got your hopes up.
This is so sad. Can we get 2 likes?

Gradius's Konami code to get full powerups was exactly that.

Some codes were left in games on purpose as removing them would cause problems.

Hudson's Adventure Island, you must get the hidden continue bee in the first level. Then that allows you to press ➡️ + start to continue.

Double Dragon 2 has three different continue codes, depending on which mission you're continuing from (1-3, 4-6, 7-9).

Some early Genesis games really liked to have you input a code (usually Start+A) to access the options menu. It wasn't a "secret" code, since it was listed in the manual, but it was a bizarre choice from a UI perspective.

I'm trying to remember if any of those had the continue option accessed in that way. Can't remember.

I was shocked to discover that the Solomon's Key continue code is on the poster that came with the game. That changes everything.

And Rad Racer has it in the manual! I wonder if it's in the Famicom manual too?

I wonder that about a lot of these codes -- how many codes that were "secret" in the US show up in some form in the Japanese manuals -- or, if we have them in the English-language manuals, how many don't show up in the Japanese manuals.

You reckon when using the ABBA code in Ikari Warriors, are you basically saying, Gimmie Gimmie Gimmie some more lives after dying! Won't this code help me chase the Game Over away?

For some reason, I thought that a lot of older NES games had that feature to continue.  However, Rad Racer and SMB are the only ones I know of for sure that had it.
