A few tips, check your wind direction, it will curve your swing. Also, if you don't land on the white bars during your swing, your ball will curve badly. Those got me the first time around. The pattern on the grass during the putt phase will determine which direction the ball will go. So if you're putting in the same direction as the arrows, use a soft putt, if putting against the arrows, then a stronger putt. You'll get the hang of it.

Sadly I already have all of that down.  What is absolutely killing me is the high risk shots that go in the water or OoB, and the pitching and sand pits.  I have no idea how you are supposed to accurately do the sand.  If you don't do high power you'll probably muff it, yet god knows where it goes if you do.  Just like real golf I guess *sigh*

If it lands near the sand but not in it, just use the sand wedge anyway. I noticed that any shot with any other wedge just knocks it into the sand. The sand and pitching wedges knock your ball in a short, high arc, so I usually use the 4 wood for the first hit or two to get across the green, then depending how close I would use the pitching wedge or sand wedge to get in near the hole. The putt as needed. Some of those holes are entirely unrealistic, like the island holes, and you just have to guestimate your shots.

Can't wait to start playing this tomorrow night. I'll get participation for sure. Don't know if I'll come close to par for the course though. This was one of the first NES games I ever played. Really happy to own this and now I have a good excuse to play it like crazy for a week.

Alright, score updated. And I already know mbd and guts will tease me over my usual bitching blowing back in my face.  I guess I deserve it.

The secret is playing this game by it's rules. Not the rules of golf, but those of a puzzle game

I'm not a golf person at all. The last thing I've done that even resembles it, is play mini-golf at a Magic Mountain fun center about 15 years ago. I'll give it a try, but I doubt I even make participation.

Yes. I would much rather be playing Gyruss.

I'm also still trying to beat Battletoads, but that should be over soon. I've made it to the very last section before the final boss.

Well for the Dark Queen take Toxie's advice from the contest: be patient and just wait for her to stop moving

She takes 20 hits. You should be able to combo 2-3 at a time if you can get to her in time. And you should only die 2-4 times if you just play it cool

The brutal (lack of) control over shot direction has taken this out of the realm of interest darn quick. I'll see you next contest.

I don't understand, you can work the ball left or right on your shot (hook-draw / fade-slice) in this game.

If you 2nd tap before or after the white bars, it steers your ball in that direction. Also, look at the wind direction and angle your shot to have it work in your favor.

Is that a Golf thing?  Not too bad at NES Golf, but I'm no golfer.
