Wait, there was a prototype Ice Nekketsu Hockey League? I loved that game on my Famiclone, and would love to play the "proper" version one day...

You do actually have that game, right? And was Nintendo World Cup's sequel ever planned to be localized? That was also another epic Technos sports game.

I got some goodies on eBay.  Wanna see more, read the news, etc?  Check below:

Yes.  Yes I do.

Very far from anything resembling a final product, it is largely similar to the famicom release.  I don't believe it ever got as far as being completely translated.

Haha!  Yeah, you find the weirdest shit on proto boards sometimes.  That reminds me, I have to thank you and two other members in Matt's proto finders keepers thread.  Time to bump that one.

Fish:  I'm telling you man, my gut says proto.  Can't wait to see the board!
My gut says proto as well

Little update, while in still waiting fgor the tool to open this thing up, I noticed that someone has changed the back out on this game. Is that common, or throw up any flags at all?

It is a different color and the lines on the sides dont match up. Never noticed it before last night, but it is completely 2-toned from front to back

I have games like that, I just think they were made somewhere else with different plastics. Kinda like some SNES get all yellow, some only the top, etc.

If the cartridge halves came from different batches of plastic at the factory the can show UV degradation differently (the major source of discoloration is a specific flame retardant used in the plastic being sensitive to UV).

Regardless of the varied degradation rates of plastic from separate batches, it's not uncommon to see protos with plastic from 2 separate donors. My Blues Brother proto is a great example:

Obviously 2 different carts, and certainly legit. The back swap isn't an indication either way.
