I had several chances to improve my score but kept screwing up on level 18 so my current score will be my final one,

Puzzle games are my absolute weakest genre by a mile. At least I know we are done with puzzlers for this tourney.

That's a wrap for me on this one. I feel as though I got much better at pulling of bigger combos but the game went from averaging about 1 hour for me to play, to about 2 plus hours. Also it made it more difficult for me to progress to the higher levels. I just died at the start of level 16 with about 270k points and just don't have it in me to go again. Definitely had alot of fun playing though and next time I'll be breaking 400k for sure Nice job everybody, and congrats Arnpoly.

That score is insane!

Going to go back and see if I can up mine now...
...although Level 24 is bananas good.

Bravo!

233,700 - NOTE this score does not count for the tourney

Finally had a decent run on my first try today. On the last level there was a huge wall of viruses on the right side. I tried working from the bottom up but didnt have enough space to work with and it got the better of me. Fun times!

35,600 - Tier 2

I'd like to thank everyone who tried to give tips this week, but I've just always sucked with puzzle games like this and tried to get all I can out of all the time allowed, which is why I'm posting at the last second. I've only played this on low before this week so the speed was an issue plus not having the time I wish I had this week too. I'm hoping to sneak into the next round, otherwise good luck to all the rest of the way.

Thanks this was one I played as a kid quite alot. Playing on the low speed is harder than you think, especially if you are used to playing on hard.

Congrats on the incredible high score! I was bummed that I missed this one; I got a copy of Dr. Mario just in time for this contest, but it was too dirty and required cleaning before I got my DeOxit spray

I just read the high scores published for Dr. Mario from Jun '91 Nintendo Power:

217,400
200,700
195,700
158,400

Does it say what speed they were playing on?

They could probably pick any speed they wanted.

Those tables were literally just "send in a pic of your  highest score", no real caveats.

It didn't list the speed.
In the counselor corner profiles, 3 out of the 4 featured listed their favorite games a Solomon's Key and Destiny of an Emperor. That's kinda weird.
