 Lots of fun, wish I had more time on this one.

 

I well outdid myself on this one, I was so friggin' determined to hold my position as well as really wanting to beat myself since I don't think I did good enough with my other high score, as well as a bit lucky on some rounds to have gotten as far as I did before I finally died, jumped up too close to that middle section and fell through landing on the robot in the center. When I got to a certain point late in the game, no more chances were taken, I just killed as quickly as I could, afterall they don't quite give you enough time to burst a whole bunch as they start turning red almost immediately after encasing them in a bubble. Whew! Even if someone comes in with a surprise killer score, now I'm satisfied though with my score, that was an awesome game.

Would've gotten further, but I thought my firebreathing power from the previous level carried over.  It didn't and I got overwhelmed.

Thanks Megan.  I did that earlier today.  I'm working on one more attempt right now.  Not sure if I'll be able to top my score, though.

I can't believe you Megan. You beat me by 3,780 points. I had no idea what to do in this level and I was bombarded by all the enemies. Well this is definitely my last score.

Well, you got 2 rounds further than I did. If the contest was about getting the furthest you'd won it right there. Got one more person at least now that I'm worried about blowing right by me.

Damn, you guys really destroyed the previous scores in the last hour.... I thought 491k was decent.... I can't imagine breaking a million. You guys are nuts!

Oh, this is one of my most hated levels. When you first appear jump up then over to the right edge, then turn around ever so lightly jump and encase the whale and wizard enemies, pop them, then get out and try to take out the rest of them with lightning bubbles. I got lucky in this round, a bomb appeared to me, I nabbed that real quick and all enemies explodded instantly, otherwise, not sure if I would have past it this last game.

I told you I suck at racking points. I only got a 64,000 bonus 3 times throughout my whole run. It's funny because when I try I don't get them as much and when I don't try I get them more often. My score above was me trying lol.

Well, I so much wanted to record my game, but last time I tried that I kept playing real terrible so I gave up that thought, but after seeing myself achieve over a million before dying, wish I would have recorded myself playing it, I could have just acted like I wasn't on camera and maybe I would have forgotten about it. As is, it was a few minutes after 8pm tonight when I decided, sure lets give this a few more tries, almost wasn't going to, glad I did. I would have even liked to try again after that, but being as each round on average (excluding the very earliest ones) takes more than a minute to finish (with a real good score) I didn't have enough time to go at it again.

You did great though, thought you were going to crush me like you did with Batman.

Good job guys (and girls)...you guys must really love this game.

Been playing this game since I was a kid, so I have always really enjoyed this game.

I tried my best to beat my previous score but kept slipping up in stupid ways trying to point press. Well done, Megan - that's an incredible accomplishment on just 1 life.

On a related note - the Bubble Bobble Plus on Wiiware is an excellent port. It's closer to the arcade version with much more in the way of items and some of the rooms and scoring is different. The biggest handicap to overcome is the speed - Plus moves very fast with not a lot of time to pop enemies before they break free.

There's also an online leaderboard - right now I'm 39th in the regional rankings. It's well worth the $10 or whatever it costs.

This is probably my favorite NES game.
