Item(s) #69: Game Store Closing + N64 Cart Color Variant

Well, I have been away and slacking a bit on posts; but I will play catch up over the next couple days.

Last Friday I had a dental appointment and decided to stop in a nearby game store. Now this game store has been around for 5-10 years and has always been a mixed bag. The product was scarce, the good stuff was over priced, and the owner (a rather young guy) didn't tolerate customers of any sort very well. So needless to say it was bound to close one day. I just happen to stop in at the right time as it will close its doors at the end of this month.

The store had mostly been picked over, on top of the fact that the store never had great vintage product to start with and anything that had any value the owner was now throwing on Ebay/Amazon. I did manage to snag a few things though...

Junk SNES titles to fill some holes in the collection ($15) -

The store always had a ton of boxes/paperwork/manuals/guides sitting around. Never for sale. Thrown about. And slowly piling up, getting damaged until the owner would throw them out (yes, throw them out). Well though I had always failed in the past I thought it might be my chance. After buying the SNES titles and the item that will appear below, he begrudgingly gather what he could. Here is what I got FOR FREE!

YES! You are seeing right...

Empty, but who cares! I was told it was "going to the trash tonight" OMG! NO!

This was in side along with the Styrofoam (not pictured)...

Some AWESOME metal framed signs unscrewed from the wall; NES cart there for size reference ($15 for both)...

AND FINALLY! The best find of that day (nearly fainted), I said "how about the Sega display case, haha" [not expecting him to sell]. Repsonse: "Oh that thing...$25?!? BUT, you must take it today" DONE!! ...

Now filled with my Sega Saturn Collection...

So all in all a great trip! I cleared them out of all I wanted, but perhaps I will stop by once more

And now for the N64 color variant...

So Sunday I stopped in the same game store I found Stunt Racer 64 [CIB] for $25; where I don't often get deals. I traded in a Original Playstation System I had just got at the Flea Market for $3, for $5 [Note: I kept a hard to get PS1 controller that came with that]. I used that credit to get this:

I actually had to do a double take as I only need one more game to complete my N64 collection, so I don't look at that section too hard. But I seemed to recall this color variation being hard to get.

ENJOY! More finds to come

dude insane finds
How can a gameshop even survive that long if the owner wants to throw out manuals and boxes. He obviously had no idea of anything retro which is sad.
I'm really diggin that Sega cabinet those Saturn games look awesome in there. Also strategy guides

Item(s) #70: ~1 month worth of Flea Market Finds (including this week's EARTH shaking find)

Sorry gamer guys & girls I have been slacking so this post is going to be VERY picture heavy; as it includes ~ 1 month's worth of Flea Market/Yard Sale finds. I will save the best (and most recent) find for last...

Ebay find; Sega Channel (blue) hat ($14)

Stopped at a yard sale as I was on call and had to stay close to work; no games...so I asked. This is what I got for ~$70:

Yes the Star Wars dolls were included...

The stuff below were Flea Market finds:

Wii with 3 games/2 controllers ($25)

Assorted wires/controllers/toys ($5)

Anime lot (to sell) $10

Assorted games $8

Lot of guides $10

Pete & Pete: Season 2 + 2 games $5

San Andreas ST + PS game $2

A Jungle Green N64 (I find these a lot) w/ wires & 4 games ($29)

Shark Tale (GC) + Paper Box release Frogger (Sega) $5

AWESOME! Brand New Toxic Avenger kids slippers $1

Lego (GB) + Figures $2

SC Eight Thousand (Kmart) System with Manual. Can't find anything on this?! Any ideas...pong clone for sure $5

ADD Heroes of Lance (NES) $3

Guides $10

2 Lunch Boxes (no thermoses) $10

Atari XE system with power cord and gun (never seen one)

Awesome wall hanger. Nintendo Vs. Hogan's Alley Arcade Sign with glass intact $5

The Halo Edition Xbox (no wires) + PSone (CIB) + PS2 Slim (no wires)were $10 for all 3; up front are a set of WIRELESS N64 controllers+2 games+ Rumble Pak $2;Sega Genesis with 3 PS contollers $1; Pikmin Wii $3; PS games $5 for lot

Ebay Find ($60) LAST N64 GAME I NEEDED!! YAY! COMPLETE USA SET!!

Kirby 20th Anniversary Wii ($7.99; price match at Target)

Local Game Store Find (~$35 for all)

STORY!

So I always stop by this group of female sellers at the flea market (their dad was a horder with a warehouse) because they always bring neat stuff. PROBLEM, they are way over priced on everything because they have NO IDEA what they are doing so they name prices arbitrarily and hope for the best. They always have a couple games, so I stop by. They take FOREVER to set up so I always say GAMES put aside and I'll be back. Well a couple weeks ago that all happened and I loop back around and they go here found JUST ONE sorry. They pull this out (below) and I nearly screamed; instead I paid them their asking price of $10!!! and ran.

So in pretty good shape though rough around the edges. I already on this so it WILL be up for Trade/Sale. Hence the many pics.

Which leads us to this week. My best find was my first find, but we will save that until the end. First...

A host of 80's toys/action figures all for <$2

$8 for Ecto Glow Ray, VERY hard to get. Even with some extra ghosts/masks there...

Double Dragon VHS + Some DS cases + Pokemon BK toys + 2 Nintendo 80's kids books all <$2 for lot

Some Sonic toys/comic all (again) for <$2

Luigi (N64) Beanie + Pokemon Walkie Talkies $5 for lot

Assorted Mario/Donkey Kong/Pokemon toys all for <$1 for lot (it was a Fill-A-Bag for $1 seller; so I got a host of other junk not pictured)

A ton of manuals lot ($5)

A second lot of manuals ($5)

I NEVER find spare wires, but some guy had tubs of wires and I found all of this for $5

M. Bison (sealed). I paid ($7), perhaps I overpaid (based on condition); but as I never see them I had to have him:

Now the guy who sold me my best find (pictured at the end), tried to sell this to me for $40 (no way!I only wanted the guns anyway), but when I looped back around after a couple hours it was still there and yelled "$15!" at me...so I took it

The NES & Sarge's Heroes 2 actually came with my 'best find' but is pictured here. I got the SILVER SP for $9, Joust for $2.50, and 3 GB games for $3

4 Game Cube Games $9

Better Story!
So as I approached the first table of first aisle of the Flea Market I notice it isn't the typical vendor (with same crap) there. Then I see Ooo NES games! So I approach...

Nothing Special...

Then I look down into the tupperware bin next to the stack (COVERED IN DUCT TAPE!!! Ahhhh!)& this is what I see...

So if you spotted what I spotted right away (Earthbound FYI) , I was like OH SNAP I need this "HOW MUCH?!?!" Ummm $40 for all nintendo stuff...Oh HELL yeah! "Would you take $30 [peeing myself]?" Sure!

I honestly didn't even see the other gems (Secret of Mana, Lufia, Castlevania, Adventure Island) until I walked away with the box:
Then I got to the car and saw a stack of manuals wedge in the side; as there was morning dew on the box I decided to sit them aside; but glance through and notice this is what was there...

WTF!! At this point I had not removed the duct tape (jaded from the EARTHBOUND)and suddenly was like please, oh please be there! So I lifted the duct tape (gently!!) to find...

So needless to say, I was VERY excited. Good week!

NOTE: Chrono Trigger, Earthbound, Lufia, Secret of Mana (with Map), Godzilla 2 (no manual; keeping that!), and many of the other games will be for sale/trade!

ENJOY!

Wow.

You've found more stuff in two months than I've found in the past two years hunting every day and for a tenth of what I've spent both those years.

Do video games grow on trees where you live?

Item(s) #72: Original Zelda Art from 1989 ZELDA GOLDEN BOOK

Recent pickup and now one of the prized pieces of my collection; this is the original hand drawn/inked/painted Art Work from the 1989 Legend of Zelda Sticker Fun Golden Book.

Though Mario was slapped on everything back in the day surprisingly there was not much Zelda memorabilia; unlike today where it is everywhere. Nintendo did consider ZELDA (along with Mario Bros & Punch-Out & lesser degree Kid Icarus) one of their number one marketing commodities. Just turned out that Mario Bros got the bulk of the merchandise.

So needless to say finding this original (one of a kind) art is amazing for me. I hope you enjoy it to:

Opening the package:

Cover/Rear Photocopies with color/size/alteration notations

With notation paper flipped up; now you can see they made additional notes, as well as the fact that there was nothing fancy about making kids books; merely cutup photocopies and glued down

Cover

Back Cover

Sticker Pages 1-4

Pages 1-16 of book (this is where stickers would be applied) - Again all hand drawn/inked; so cool

Now the question is how to display this wonderful art?!?!

THAT is one week?!

You even got that awesome rare hidden gem Gameboy game, something survival?, that is suppose to be worth a lot and really awesome.

Did you know Mutant League Hockey recently tripled in value? It's like a $60 to $80 game now!

So the Pac Man album is music I'm guessing but is the calendar also an album or is it a calendar? Either way, so rad.

Item(s) #76: Mega SNES (yard sale find)

*Well, many of you won't believe me; but tis all true. Best find in a while...

Story:
Went to a yard sale last week; huge! TONS of antiques and everything in between; but yo games. The guy says stop by later as he's (essentially) a horder and had everything. So I move on to next yard sale, which I thought was 10 minutes away...turns out to be a 25-30 minute drive. Ugh! I'm mad, probably all baby stuff!

I pull up. All baby girl stuff! I'm not even going to get out, but FINE I drove this far, so I get out. Quick run by NOTHING! About to get in car a snes cart hits corner of my eye. Ooo maybe a couple loose games...

I look and under a pile of clothes 2 bins of games! Gentleman running sale then says "sorry these are sold" my soul drops...

Let me just move them so you can look at the games...

Oh he meant the clothes! Hell move the clothes!

I look at top bin of games and this is sitting on top...

Internally going "oh my God," so I say how much are the games? He says "how about you take them all for $35?" ...

I couldn't throw money at him fast enough. He says yeah some other guy offered $50 but he isn't here yet so...

I ran to my car and drive off.Mind you I looked at none of other games. At the next red light I pop off top of bin with one hand, start gandering titles...holy shit...
