Hello everyone and welcome to the latest installment of the Weekly Contests!  This week’s game is going to be Rampart.  Here are the rules:

  • 1 player only (play as Blue Army)
  • Set difficulty to Easy
  • Start on Beginner Level (no bonus points)
  • After completing the Beginner Level, you may play the stages in any order you choose
  • Play until you ran out of continues.
  • Take your picture on the High Score screen
  • Highest score wins
  • GENRE: Puzzle

The contest ends Sunday, 4/26/15 at 11 PM NA time.  Your user name MUST be written or typed on a piece of paper and be in the picture for your score to be valid.  The entire TV screen, or computer monitor if you are playing on an emulator, MUST be in the picture for the score to be valid.  No partial screenshots will be considered or accepted.  No screenshots by hitting "print screen" on a computer will be allowed.  You must take a picture of your computer monitor.  There may be instances where this will be acceptable, but it will be at the discretion of myself and the contest organizers.  Also, the use of turbo controllers is forbidden, as well as any cheat codes, Game Genies, slow motion functions, or save states if playing on an emulator.  Also, we will only be using NTSC systems for the contests.  The use of PAL systems will NOT be allowed.  Good luck everyone and have fun

Maybe we should allow continues then, anyway that game gets hard as ball quite quickly, so I don't see how it would be a problem. Thoughts ladies and gentlemen?

Wow I had never heard of this game. Tried it out real quick and I am all about it. Agreed with guts though, building walls is tough. Especially when you can't overlap.

You're not alone.  This is my first time playing it as well. I'm still trying to figure it out...  It looks to be a lot of fun though.

i just did a test play and it appears the number of continues is limited. i see no problem with continuing until the player runs out.

Sounds good to me. It's a puzzler,so it won't matter much for me anyway.

I definitely will. I think I've only made it to the third area once, and that was on a practice run last week.

I played this a few times last week and it reminds me of the disaster scenarios from SimCity. If there was a "Pirate Attack" scenario where you had to rebuild the walls of your city with Tetris blocks, I'm guessing it would be a lot like this game. I found it to be a fun game, so hopefully I can get a few attempts in this week.

Does anyone have any extra Rampart carts lying around they would want to sell? I have an emulator for Rampart that really sucks and wanted in on this because I love the game (my friend has it). I had been meaning to post a WTB thread, but figured it wasn't appropriate to start a whole new thread for one relatively cheap game. I'd pay $10 shipped for a decent cart that works (perfect condition not necessary).

My local game shop had a copy a few weeks ago. I can check there on my way home.

Thank you, but no, I don't want you to make a special trip.  It's not that important!

It's not out of the way, I go right by it. I need to stop in there anyway.

Edit: I checked and they don't have a copy. There were some on eBay in the $12 range though.

/\ Thanks for checking... I can always borrow it from my friend, even though I likely won't see him until the weekly contest ends... I should've planned ahead for this one.

No problem. I probably should've picked it up when I saw it in case anybody needed a copy, but most of their prices are about the same as ebay.

Emulating it is an option. And the controller I use I got at Best Buy for around $17.
