It is awesome but very very difficult. First dungeon without a sword and fighting the helmos knights without a bow were memorable brutality.

It's a great game if you're a massochist hahaha.

It is an excellent game and a full remake using zelda sprites with a few custom new characters as well. It's REALLY challenging.

Timewalkgames.com has an Easier version for those that are interested if the Parallel Worlds is too challenging.

If you're a zelda fan, I would also check out Zelda: Goddess of Wisdom (great hack) as well as the BS Zelda: Map One & Two. Great stuff for zelda fans.

I personally have yet to beat Parallel Worlds but I have gotten pretty far in. Just remember that the game won't let you save until you make it to the church through the first dungeon with your sword.

If anyone is LOOKING for certain repro/homebrews, I have a running repro company thread going as well as a lot of extras myself which include Limited Editions as well.  I'm also free to help answer questions and point people in the right direction so never hesitate to ask!  Here is the current list of repro companies.  Please let me know if I need to update it:

I love Parallel Worlds! I beat it awhile ago, but have been looking for a good physical copy.

Is it a good game? Yes and no. It's the most complete Zelda 3 hack out there but I don't think the whole super hard hack lends itself well to Zelda 3 personally. There are a lot of nice things about the game, and other things, seem poorly thought out or given last minute consideration. Running around without a sword at the beginning is neat, but if you happen to die, you will have to start over from the beginning due to a quirk with the original game, something I would consider poorly thought out for example. Some of the dungeons are complete garbage like the one where you have to fall down the holes as a another example are complete garbage.

You'll want to be really familiar with Zelda 3 and a masochist, even still, you're going to have to save state like crazy if you want finish this game.
