Hello everyone and welcome to week two of the 2015 NintendoAge Weekly Contests!  The Super Mario 3 contest had some fantastic scores and exciting competition and this week should be no different!  It’s time for us to visit one of the most classic arcade games of all time.  This week, it’s on…like Donkey Kong…yeah…this week is Donkey Kong.  Here are the rules:

• You may play with “Black Box” Donkey Kong or Donkey Kong Classics
• Choose 1 Player Game A
• Play until Game Over
• To get your score, start a new game and take your picture.  Your score will be in the “Top Score” spot.                                                           EDIT : Try to pause the game immediately once you lost your last life and take your picture then. This way, we can see on what level you made your score, which is quite useful if someone roll the score.
• Participation score: 20,000 (You must score at least 20,000 points to earn a participation point)
• If you roll the score, take a picture right before you roll it and right after you roll it.  This must be done for each subsequent rolling of the score.
• Highest score wins
• GENRE: Arcade

 
 
The contest ends Sunday, 2/15/15 at 11 PM NA time.  Your user name MUST be written on a piece of paper and be in the picture for your score to be valid.  The entire TV screen, or computer monitor if you are playing on an emulator, MUST be in the picture for the score to be valid.  No partial screenshots will be considered or accepted.  No screenshots by hitting "print screen" on a computer will be allowed.  You must take a picture of your computer monitor.  There may be instances where this will be acceptable, but it will be at the discretion of myself and the contest organizers.  Also, the use of turbo controllers is forbidden, as well as any cheat codes, Game Genies, slow motion functions, or save states if playing on an emulator.  Also, we will only be using NTSC systems for the contests.  The use of PAL systems will NOT be allowed.  Good luck everyone and have fun

I've only been able to get to 75k so far. Actually the next several games don't expect me to post anything amazing as I am just not good at DK,Dr. Mario,and RC Pro Am.

Man, my timing is rusty. Hopefully some practice will help.

Where'd you perish on that last run? 

I mistimed a jump from the second elevator on Level 5.

It usually takes me a few runs in a row to get in a rhythm. I spent most of the afternoon playing Mario 3, so I'll try giving it a better effort tomorrow.

i agree every time i played tonight my score increased by about 10000

Wish I was so lucky... first 6 games: 67400, 41800, 79100, 35600, 37300, 38700... Top score ended on L4 Rivets. I need a lot of practice.

Man I was at 756k by 2-3 and fell in the hole past the first pyramid blocks

Im not very good at this game. Only played it a few times before. Ill gove it a good few tries tonight after kiddo is in bed.

Final run. Got caught on a ladder Got a little too daring methinks. Doesn't look like I'll have time for another attempt, so this'll have to do.

5th serious run (not actual attempt..this game has been giving me fits! lol), I intended to join the 200k club and went a bit past that. I was on a roll but started mistiming those trampolines as seen in my final death. Plus a couple silly barrel deaths, and managed to trap myself on the rivets stage at one point. Good times!

Update.

Finally made a pretty decent run for my third attempt. Sadly, my cheapie USB controller isn't so responsive sometimes and resulted in me jumping straight up rather than to the left, landing me directly onto a barrel on the 7th level/cycle/iteration/whatever ya call it I need a physical copy of this game, think I'll see if I can borrow a copy from my buddy for this competition. Forgot how much fun it is.
