Been working on this for a while, it covers just about everything I know from picking the donor board, prepairing the ROM even ExHiROM games.

17 pages of screen shots and pics of my boards I have made in the past.  Let me know if anything is unclear.

MrPete1985, I honestly can' thank you enough for taking the time to make this document and all the tutorials you have written. You have truly helped more than you can ever know, and can't thank you enough.

Glad to see people like this.

As for NES I am planning a short write up when retro stage starts offering NES PCBs but not covering how to use donors

MAD #12 and #13, those points are a21 and a20.

Oh, and the original FF3 is a 24mb rom, so you only need 3 eproms, not 4.

When using an 1J0N to make an 16mbit game with 27C801, where goes the pin 1 of the 74LS139? Because the 1J0N and the 1AON dont have an MAD1.

I´ve tryed to see on the MrPete1985 pictures but no success =/

Awesome post. Thank you for sharing this. The only thing I'd mention, because most people around here are probably not big on sports games, is that NHL 94-95 are still considered by some to be the greatest hockey video games ever made. I'd personally stay away from using them as donors, but to each his own I guess

*bump*

I got a question:
I got a GQ-4x Programmer and TSOP from ST: M29F032
Boards: TSOP ADapter 3 from buyicnow, closed resistors.
The adapter is not recognized until I saw that i need a tsop40 to 36 converter as seen on mmmonkey.
I then bought an adapterboard to be able to program them:
DIP40-DIP36 Programmer Adapter I-1
Item ID00002570

and also a nonassembled version:

DIP40-DIP36 Programmer Adapter II
Item ID00002623

None of my so far 3 soldered M29s are detected by the programmer.
Questions:
A) do i have to close a jumper on the first adapter ?
B) is my 2nd adapter assembled correctly ?

Pics here:
