Hello everyone and welcome to the latest installment of the weekly contests.
Time to grab your 3D glasses and drive, cause this week's game is Rad Racer :

(That dude is serious about it, so take example on him)

Here are the rules:

  • Choose whichever car you want
  • Play until Game Over (Be quick with your picture on the Game Over screen, the screen that shows the map of the course)
  • Highest score wins
  • GENRE: Sports

The contest ends Sunday, 10/3/13 at 10 PM NA time.  Your user name MUST be in the picture for your score to be valid.  The entire TV screen, or computer monitor if you are playing on an emulator, MUST be in the picture for the score to be valid.  No partial screenshots will be considered or accepted.  Also, the use of turbo controllers is forbidden, as well as any cheat codes, Game Genies, or save states if playing on an emulator.  Also, we will only be using NTSC systems for the contests.  The use of PAL systems will not be allowed.  Good luck everyone and have fun

Can you pause with this? Might be tough to get the pictures ready to go if you can't...

"It's always amazing to me how some of the most worthless games from a gaming perspective tend to fetch outrageous amounts of money. But then again, it could be said that something is only worth what someone is willing to pay for it. I'm curious if the high bidder of the $873.04 Stadium Events (cart-only) realizes that it's nowhere nearly as rare as about 20+ games I can think of that sell for 1/10th that amount?  At any rate, I wanted to draw attention to this trend: if people say it's rare, it must be true, and therefore it must be had at any price."

Good question. I'll check on this later, if nobody answer your question meanwhile.

Well, there is a pause feature, not sure if it'll work while going game over though...might have to take a shot reasonably close to the end.  Anyway, I want my participation point:

1 point.  Yes, 1 single, solitairy point.  Only really posting for shits and giggles, I'll have a real score soon

Well, here's the serious score, at least for now:

8024.  Didn't beat the first level, although I came close.  Thumbs are too sore to attempt another run, so that's it.  I'd say it's alright though, considering I last played it around 20 or so years ago.

EDIT: Also noticed the quality of the first pic sucked, so I turned on the light   Looks a ton better now

Increased my score a tiny bit. Like an idiot I took the very last corner too fast having the checkered flag on my mind. Probably only would've gained an extra 200-300 points anyway.

I might have to use the PAL version for this one... Luckily, it runs at the same speed as the NTSC version so it should count.

I will get a better score. I can get to stage 5 without a crash, but stage 5 always gives me problems! You haven't seen the last of me!

Even though it's not a "cheat code" by definition, I'm assuming the pausing trick isn't allowed.

My camera has a wicked lag when taking pictures so its hard to capture my score before it disappears. I hope its ok that I recorded my run and then just played back the video and paused it on my score. I've got the entire video if you need more proof of the run. Here is my first attempt:

Nice start!

I don't see the problem with the played back video.  I do the same thing all the time.  It takes away the pressure of getting a good snapshot with the camera for games where the score disappears quickly.

And like you said, you have the video.  That's already going above and beyond for proof.

Yeah its definitley nice to not have to worry about scrambling with a camera. I hope I can find time for another attempt. I think I can finish all 8 tracks, but I definitely need some practice on tracks 5 and 8.

Heh,my high score lasted a whopping 4 hours. Guess I'll have to hit it up again after I get home from the gym. Can we do an NA bench press contest? I know I'd do real well in that competition. Lol.

lol, maybe I've never been a power lifter; I've always considered being able to lift a bit more than my body weight pretty good, and I am lifting around 200 right now.

I'm benching 345 right now (weigh 207) so close to my 350 goal. Then I guess I'll shoot for 400. Of course I think worlds strongest man on here benches like cars and stuff,so I couldn't beat him in a competition.

Quoted from the rules:

Systems

- NTSC systems will be the only consoles allowed for the contests.  PAL systems will not be allowed.

Did you submit your score from a PAL system?  If so, it won't count.  If it's a PAL game in a Top Loader, then it will be fine.

Quick question. Are we allowed to pause right before the finish on the last track? I'm going to beat the game and its impossible to try and catch your score since there is no game over screen.
