Wow. The game is very fun and that first boss was really tough. It felt like an accomplishment when I finally beat it. I loved the music. Very catchy melodies. Most impressive.  Did you compose all the music yourself?

Thanks for the comments and yes, I did.  If you're interested in more of it, I have an NSF put together at another forum:

http://famitracker.shoodot.net/fo...

The file is there.  Can't link straight to it.  Should play in most modern emulators.

This is amazing! I just have to ask, did you learn all of this through the Nerdy Nights lessons? If so, I really want to start studying them.

He knew how to code long before nerdy nights. I don't think we've quite gotten to room compression yet, haha.

Well, it was a bit of both.  I took a class in ASM at college, which was writing programs for DOS...  So the general ASM concepts were with me.  The other tutorials obviously gave me information on just how things work with the NES.  DOS has its own way of doing things while the 6502 has its way.

Room compression?  I just have two very simple algorithms for that.  Nothing really amazing there.

Maybe its just me...but the music gets a bit repetitive after awhile. (Maybe add a bit more to it?)

I just completed the demo and I must say that it kicks ass. This is, without a doubt, the best homebrew for the NES yet! It looks and feels like something that would have been released during the console's heyday, and I will definitely buy it when it is finished and released.

By the way, I don't know if anyone noticed this, but you can look at the computer at the beginning by pressing up when in front of it.

BTW, what is going to be in the package? Box? Manual? Double-sided poster with box art on one side and partial game map on the other?

I thought the music was perfect, no more repetitive than most any other NES game. Very Megaman-ish.

But yeah, I have every intention to do some metal recordings of the music once the game's out and I've heard it enough.

Wow, this is crazy awesome! It's like Megaman meets Clash at Demonhead. Everything from the gameplay to graphics to music is awesome! I can't wait to get this!

That one room with the floating eye, and the ice block over the spikes was maddening for me without save states, haha! Will the full version feature some kind of lifebar? Is this still in testing, or is a release coming soon? I can't wait!

Nope.  It's all-or-nothing.  Get equipped with some brass balls, if you want to make it through the whole game.

This! This!! This!!!

Give me pixel perfect jumps and .3 second timing.  Any chance of an extra "hard mode" feature?

There will be the following difficulty settings:

Easy, Normal, Hard, Very Hard, and Unfair.

Easy gives you double damage and a pink suit, normal is what you are playing in the demo, and the other settings limit the number of continues you can have. Unfair mode makes it so once you die once the game is over.

Also the game gets increasingly difficult  as it progresses and requires pixel perfect precision, so your in luck

I'm amazed of the quality of the work involved, music, graphics, control! Everything is awesome!
But since I suck, I'm gonna wear the pink suit when I buy this. It's a must have!

How long must we wait for a full release, Sivak?

Just do what Wily should have done a long time ago... an entire room full of spikes.

Easy or hard this game is going to be awesome!
