with CL you gotta pick stuff up right away, because there's always someone out there who will undercut you if you take your time

South Carolina officially sucks for collecting. I have been to the one and only retro game store in the state and almost every thrift store as well, and found shit. I could be back in Vegas finding stuff, who knows what I have missed. It seems that all thrift stores here in the south are just full of crap and never get anything good in. Most of the workers at the thrift stores say that have rarely seen any video games come in lately. Looks like my collecting is going to be no existant for the year...

Unfortunately I can't just skip work, or leave to pick things up.  I have a 15 or so hour work day with little time to spare.  So I can only hope that I end up dealing with some real nice people that'll wait a bit of time.  My current limitations keep me from using Craigslist much.

UUGGGHHHH!!!! I e-mailed the poster within 4 hours of listing (was first time I saw it) and he had 193 games for $193. 120 NES (looked to have about 100 in the box), 65 genesis (all in box), and 8 loose SNES. I'm bummed! He never replied, but the post is deleted.

Again, I've found some really nice things here. I guessing the store you are talking about is in Rock Hill? I haven't been there, but you can find good things here. Like anything it does take some work.

I just missed out on this. Post was only up for a couple hours. It's in the city I live in, too. I normally have to travel at least 45 minutes for a deal on CL. Anybody on here get this?

Sorry. It was a lot of great titles for 64, GameCube, gameboy. Zeldas,Marios, pokemon, plus the consoles. It was at least $200-250 worth of stuff. He was very casual in his ad. "Make any offer. If this doesn't sell I'll be donating it." Whoever picked this up I'm sure got an awesome deal.

I'm glad I don't have too many of these stories, but I definitely do have one.

I see an ad on craigslist for "new" copies of Lolo 1 2 3, etc. I call and the lady has TONS of amazing sealed NES games. Dragon Warrior 1 2 3 4, Lolo 1 2 3, etc. Well she's asking 8$ each, and I ask her if she can hold them. She tells me shes gotten a few phone calls and doesn't want to hold them. I tell her I can give her 20$ each if she holds them. She then tells me she doesn't care about the money, and I should just come down to check it out. I show up as fast as possible, and when I arrive I notice someone is about to close a deal for all the good stuff for 8$ each. He looks up at me and I recognize him as the deaf collector I've seen before. He takes a look at me smiles, lifts a Dragon Warrior IV CIB and shows me THE FLAP OF THE CELLO and flicks it. I mention I thought they were new, and she tells me she opened them all to make sure everything was inside of them. At that point I realize we both could have just face palmed right there. Nonetheless he buys the now mint CIBs for 8$, and oddly he left some various weird left overs. A Tengen Tetris box and a Mega Man 1 box(with the cello.) Oddly he must have only wanted the contents??? I don't know, but the best part is she STILL TRIED TO CHARGE ME 20$ EACH! She tells me the money doesn't matter, I watch him buy the good stuff for 8$ each, and then she tries to charge me 20$ for what she knows is just an empty box. In the end I landed up buying a very small amount of stuff for about 30$, which lands up including the boxes.

Luckily I really don't have any other good stories like this, but man I won't ever forget that day.

I am not really an advocate for Bitch Slappin' old ladies but I would have made an exception over that situation, that was painful to read.

Also I should have mentioned later on a friend of mine would somehow trade me those Dragon Warrior games, and the Lolos. He told me he got them from the deaf guy! I'll post pics of them later if you guys want. They are still minty fresh.

went to my local salvation army today and after a two month video game drought had something video game related. It was a playstation one system. i spotted it a mile away. I get closer and realize why it is still on the shelf. They wanted $25 for a used playstation 1. oh well back to the yard sales.

Thrift stores around here love those $50 GameCubes and $25-30 PS1s. Just spotted an Original Xbox with a second controller and 8 sports/racing games for $130 last week.

I could only hope for a next time. Sadly it seems there are craigslist ninjas in my area who jump on anything the instant it is published.

I was in the bidding for a complete DK G&W (beautiful condition), i had the high bid but they sold it to someone else to end the auction

It ended up going for $43 but I offered them $60 to end the auction a month prior to that
