To be honest I really don't like how the red cart looks on this one, even when the word "crimson" is on the game title. On the other hand, the label is awesome.
I want one gray cart in case you're taking pre-orders or something!

I hadn't heard of this project before and just googled it. Very cool! I dig the look of the cart and label, it's super nice. So these shells are from Doom and Maximum Carnage carts or they are spray painted this color?

Was this finished by someone? The stuff I read says it was like 98% done but never fully finished. Or is this reproduction of the unfinished game?

PRE ORDER FOR 1 RED & 2 STANDARD

Seriously though, Chrono Trigger is my absolute favorite game on this planet so I'm in for three copies.

If this is completed (not the 98% completed version) I would love a red and standard version.

What I'd be more concerned about is whether or not it's the ealry Alpha version that was leaked. Was the almost finished Beta even released?

The rom I downloaded claimed to be completed, that's why I wanted to do a playthrough first in case somethings wrong. I'm hoping it's done however.

It only got to 98% before Squeenix pulled the plug on the project.

"Only" 98% ? I'm pretty sure the 2% would be a couple of things like dialogue that hadn't been relooked over and may have had a spelling mistake or two or something like minigames and so wouldn't have too much of a negative impact on the game in general. I'm retty sure the 98% completed version could be finished from beginning to end. T

he problem is it was never officially released by the developers and an Alpha version was leaked that apparently came before over 2,000 bugfixes and other inclusions. An apparent "Final" version of the game was leaked on Reddit a year or so ago but the OP is unsure it's the real deal and so is giving it a full playthrough to check.

Okay, the rom I have is listed as "final" version. You guys are right it is claimed to be 98% done with no plans on finishing publicly. I'm still doing a playthrough to check it out. Has anyone played the "Flames of Eternity" version? It seems to be picked up and finished where the other team left off.

Looked around and found their blog: http://www.metronomeproject.blogs...

The game seems pretty complete but they seem to still be adding things to the hack which is awesome. Hopefully they'll have a completed, fully finished version out soon.

You already know I want one. I don't care about the color though, unless you make some in black.

That 2% could be important story line, the last area, the last battle, etc. Don't assume that 98% means it's able to be fully played through without having parts of the real game showing up and making dialog/area's out of place and not finishing the story or leaving important story pieces out

I found that yesterday and started playing.  Only about an hour in but from what i've read it seems that this is a complete version with minor tweaks coming every few months.  It also includes a mp3 player for the rom.  I dont quite understand the use but who knows.

Only problem I see is that this is an ongoing project, and unless the cart producer had spoken with the current team... it would be wrong to profit from the teams work without them knowing.

Crimson Echoes and Flame of Eternity are two separate projects. OP is doing a run of a game that is no longer being updated. The blog Moothead2 sited, refers to the Flame of eternity project not Crimson Echoes.
