Seems like November may be a good time, I know of a local hotel that has small conference rooms we could easily hire for the event, fill with a bunch of tvs etc. Attached to a club for food, drinks etc

also james, even though it's a while off, are there any places you would recommend for accommodation? does this hotel have anything in it or near it?

It's in Dickson, which has the kind of China Town area of Canberra, and is probably around 4km from the city centre. There's cheaper places - the Formule 1 hotel's probably another 4km up the road out of town from there http://www.hotelformule1.com/gb/h...) and fancier places right in town, depends on taste

Well November should be ok. Maybe find out about the americans too so we can get even more people. I'm going over east around easter but probably just going to Sydney cuz I heart sydney.

well i definately think BBQ/beers is in order along with some gaming, trade/selling a few items if we all bring something.

Well we've got a crapload of national museums, monuments, gallerys etc

As far as retro shops go we're quite light on, really only 1 chain I can think of with high prices.

Beer and porn are in abundance, I think they've cracked down on fireworks in recent years.

There are many public bbqs atone the lakes in Canberra that could be a potential venue for say a lunch, then back to the conference room for games etc later in the day/ night?

Could be a good idea, I haven't been around here for ummmm, probbably a couple of years but it'd be a good trip anyhow just for the hell of it, just a 12 hours drive or so, haha.

Current thinking: one weekend in November, kick off saturday morning, rent out a smallish conference/meeting room at a hotel where we can hang out, play games, nearby restaurant for lunch, bistro beers, bistro dinner, more games, competitions etc.

I'll track confirmations in the first post, as well as requirements.
