Joel Hodgson, creator of Mystery Science Theater 3000, has just launched a crowdfunding campaign to bring back the show.
I can't tell you how excited I am for this long-awaited news.

As cool as this is, I am most excited to see the Gizmonics logo back, although I doubt anyone gives a rip about that. I am still waiting to see the FIRST three episodes of the show, too...

I wonder if it will be as cool as this -

Patton Oswalt is now TV's Son of TV's Frank, henchman to daughter of Dr. Clayton Forrester, Kinga Forrester. Far out.

Here is some excellent material from Comic, Magician, Spy... Joel Hodgson (years before MST3K!). It's neat to see some of the invention exchange and Gizmonics bits in his standup, very neat.

Oswalt is a good choice. Nice to have a tie-in to Frank as well.

As much as I don't personally care for Oswalt's comedy he is a good choice, the more I think about it. And I agree with the Frank connection as TV's Frank is my absolute favorite character of all time, period.

Just 3 days left! Nine episodes have nearly been clinched and the last burst will make a run at hitting 12 episodes. Joel just announced that all backers will get a Rifftrax short once 9 episodes are hit, so why not pitch in a dollar?

I'll be honest, I'm not too excited about this. MST3K is probably my favorite show of all time, but it was just one of those magic right time, right place, right people scenarios you can't repeat, and it's been gone so long I doubt they could get back the magic. Also it's kind of pointless to me, since Rifftrax exists and has been carrying on the riffing tradition with flying colors. The nail in the coffin for me though was casting Felicia Day as a Mad, her "haha I'm so nerdy and quirky!" shtick is not something I'm a fan of and I don't think it'd be a good fit for MST3K. I do hope it goes over well, but I'm on the cautious side of cautiously optimistic until I watch the first episode.
