Hey everyone - I just picked up these "prototypes" from a seller on ebay who claimed they didn't know what the games were. It was listed as "2 unknown nes games". I figured I would take my chances and so I won the bid. Anyway, I've taken pictures of both carts and the boards inside of them.

The game with the small scratched off label is: "Al Unser Jr. Turbo Racing"
The other game with "sample" written on it is: "NES Open Tournament Golf"

Al Unser's label (the one that was on before) looked to be a lot smaller than a regular label that would cover an nes game. Also the back of the cart doesn't appear to have had a "Caution"  sticker on it. The same goes for the NES Open - the part where a label would have been on it is clean (doesn't look like anyone tried to remove any label from the cart) and the would be "Caution" back of the cart is also clean.

Let me know what you guys think...

By the looks of the boards, I would guess that neither title is a prototype. I would guess someone slapped a sample sticker on there intentionally to mislead.

Yeah... I didn't think they were prototypes either by the looks of the both boards. They looked like regular SKROM boards to me; one of them was even missing a battery. Oh well - I guess that's what happens when you take chances, huh ?

You can tell they arent protos because they have the mask roms. If the chips have the NES-xx-0 codes then they are production ones.

Thanks for letting me know about that detail, bunnyboy - I'll keep that in mind when checking for the legitimacy of a prototype.
