Wow, just, wow dude.

You are one lucky dude. Don't fret on spending it, there's a billion to one shot the guy will find out and hunt you down LOL

Definitely make sure its real though, some guys back in the day would counterfeit up a suitcase full of 100s and then buy a trailer full of dope and skip town.

That's such an awesome find there. I wonder how many different hands the cart has gone through without anyone having any idea that there was money inside.

Interesting, Not asking for to many details but im curious did you have the cart in your collection and just noticed.  was it in a lot off ebay, flea market find, yard sale  ?.   I would also guess the money was from some illegal activity.

was a good find, if the money has been in there since the 80s it is probally long forgotton about, my concern would be if you bought it from ebay or straight from a individual from craigslist or the seller knows who you are, i would probally sit on the money.  wouldnt be worth getting hurt over it.  If found at a yard sale, flea market, good will  etc, i wouldnt worry about it.

Not to be a downer but being in law enforcemnet, i could see a wife, mother, sibling, seeing a pile of games thought to be forgotton about, selling them then the owner saying wheres my old games, well i sold them to this guy.  Ive seen   people shot over a few grams of weed so 5 grand probally would be missed.

bottom line is there are many different reasons why the money was in there, best case is the person was just hiding money and forgot about it.

Old aunts used to come up to me at weddings, poking me in the ribs and cackling, telling me, "You're next." They stopped after I started doing the same thing to them at funerals.

I would have kept this quiet.  How many peopel hid 5k in a nintendo game?  This is likely going to end up all over the internet (like the stadium events sale) and increase a lot more scrutiny.  Hopefully wehoever put it there is dead and gone, but why take the chance.  In any case, awesome find and good luck with it!  My best find was this summer.  I paid $1,000 for an oriental rug that has been appraised for $20-25,000.  Not as exciting as 5k in cash, but still a great find.

Really smart of the finder to stay anonymous. With over 35k views it wouldn't surprise me if Marty Johnson saw this and wants his games back. If he knew who found this he could use unpleasant ways to find out where the finder got this game from and then try to track back to his other games.

By this time, I'm sure it's been missed and forgotton. It's obviously been there for decades. I'm sure whomever lost it is either dead, or long given up hope of finding it.

That's insane. With inflation, the original value back in the day would be around 10K.
