The biggest tip I can give for wild guns is to spam the lasso against the bosses. You can get into a rhythm of stunning with the lasso, then shooting, then the lasso to stun lock them into finishing the fight before they get a chance to attack. I also found that some times it's easier to shoot the enemies bullets before they get to me instead of trying to constantly be dodging.

Thanks for explaining that tip about the lasso.  I knew about that move, but haven't utilized it much yet.  I will definitely try to use it now that it helps with boss fights!

Here's my attempt from last night.  I played this game quite a bit couple weeks back and definitely did better then.  I need to practice a bit to get back to my usual form:

What is this "lasso" you're talking about. Seriously, I have no clue what this is referring to. Is it a power-up? A special move?

It's a shame no one played Tiny Toons because it hasn't been beaten this year for the other thread. I'm guilty of this as well.

I did not know about this lasso thing, either. Maybe that's why I suck at this game. I'm pretty decent at Cabal on NES.

instead of pressing and holding the shoot button, quickly tap it and your character will twirl a lasso. Throw it at whoever youd like to stun them into a frozen position

Did not know about this. I can't think of any scenario where I considered tapping the button rapidly. I typically find and read the instruction manual for most retro games before I play them and I'll bet the lasso trick is spelled out there but I just didn't get around to it for this game yet. Very interesting. It's not terribly practical for most common enemies but it is rather useful against certain bosses/mini-bosses.

Updated my Wild Guns score.

I've also made a few passes at Tiny Toons but that game is so...strange. I'll probably put up some kind of garbage score tomorrow just for the sake of it but the game is just so odd that I feel like I'd need a detailed walkthrough to even figure out what I'm doing in some of the events. The whole "spin up the dial until it changes colors" thing is not as intuitive as it seemed at first.

Scores added to post on first page. I posted my death shot from Wild Guns just to show where I finally got my Game Over. Completed the Gold Mine and Ammunition Depot prior to going to the Armored Train level. Came so close to beating the final mini-boss, but I got greedy for a weapon upgrade   Had a really good run and got lots of bonus multipliers and completed two stages without dying and got some nice item collection bonuses. Such a cool game and definitely worth the money I paid for it last year. Now if only I could beat it

As for Tiny Toons, the more I played it, the more I liked it. I played as Plucky Duck on every difficulty.  I added two pics for the Easy Mode score just because if you finish in 1st, the Easy Mode label at the top of the screen disappears quickly after you step on the podium. The Birdman Contest is the final event of Easy Mode. The one event that ended a lot of my other runs on other difficulties was the Weightlifting. On Easy Mode it's, no pun intended, easy to complete. On each subsequent difficulty, the computer players seem to be able to lift the weight faster than me. The toughest one was in Hard Mode when the sneezy mouse character comes in and tries to distract you by sneezing. It seemed like when he sneezed behind the computer characters, nothing happened, but when he did it to me, I ALWAYS dropped the weight and had to start over. The Pole Vault event can also suck it. Otherwise, it's a pretty fun game (despite the steep challenge on the harder difficulties) with some really nice graphics, animation, sound, music, and humor. Konami did a good job on that game. Oh, and it's a good idea to rest your fingers between events since you have to do a lot of button mashing on some of them.

Tiny Toons is basically a "track-and-field" game, which were fairly prolific on the NES and SNES.  I'd also say it is easily the best of the bunch, with a relatively huge roster of events.  Hopefully people gave it a chance this month.

Added a score from my blah attempt at Wacky Sports.

Man, that game was draining on my energy. Not because it's objectively bad but because I found it subjectively tedious.

Tiny Toons is fun. Just frustrating. Chicken Run in very hard mode. My god. you have to get a 400 which is possible because ive done it in lesser difficulties. But 400 just to clear the stage is dumb. power lifting i think was the one that got me in hard mode. cant remember.

my least favorite events were power lifting on hard, chicken run on very hard, and that obstacle race level because it never ends, and that skiing level makes my fingers tired.

bimmy, i also hated pole vault so much until i figured it out. its alot like the saucer throw in a way. Just have to get stars on the way down and make sure you dont have an arrow on the screen so you are lined up right near the pad. gotta get that high launch angle and hold it down once you place the stick down on the target.

It looks like the difference in our scores bimmy was you got through very hard mode pretty far. I couldnt pass that 400 point chicken run on it. kept fouling out and kept getting like 350-370 and couldnt clear. I got 400 in earlier ones on easy and normal by accident lol.

EDIT: Got through the chicken dash and dominated swimming in the 3rd event on very hard at the buzzer to eclipse you bimmy

Nice job, that was a close finish on Tiny Toons.  I find it ironic that Very Hard is the hardest difficulty, yet I did better on that one than Normal and Hard    The Chicken Race is tough on Very Hard to get a 400 just from running.  I think I ended up getting like a 370 or 380, but got some bonus points at the end of the event that put me over 400.  After the Chicken Race on Very Hard is Freestyle Skiing, which I barely got the qualifying points on.  The qualifier was 200 points, but I squeezed out of there with just above 200.  That course didn't seem as long as the other ski courses and it was narrower, so I got bumped off quite a few times and lost points.  I think after that was Saucer Throw, which I lost on and came really close to the qualifying score.  I had a feeling the Pole Vault had something to do with grabbing stars and the angle.  There were times where I shot myself very high in the air, but didn't get one of those red stars, so my score wasn't that great.  Then, another time, I grabbed one and got a great score.  The biggest problem I had was placing the pole in the circle.  I can't tell you how many times I came up short lol.  The Obstacle Course and the Swimming events I had the easiest time with because they were the easiest ones to rack up a lot of points.

I was running out of time so I had to submit the score after the swimming in very hard. I played for fun after to see how far I could go. I got to the pole vault. Pole vault in very hard is ridiculous.

Maybe it was Pole Vault where my run ended on Very Hard. The order of the events on each difficulty has all blurred together for me since playing it the other day   The Weightlifting got me on Normal and Hard for sure.
