I'm sure this has been a thread 10 times over, but I figure I'd ask: I know there's a lot of SM fans here; what is your best time to beat the game?  If you want, post both 100% finishes, as well as just beating Mother Brain and viewing the credits.  Anyone ever get Samus down to her skimps?

I'm not actually sure what my best time is! I am nowhere near an actual speedrunner, but I can 100% Super Metroid in 2-2.5 hours real time. In-game time is around 1:30 if I remember right.

That's less time than it took me to figure out how to wall jump.

Hahaha, same here!  Wall jumping was not intuitive to me at all for a very long time but eventually I got the hang of it.  When even casually speedrunning it's important to do though so I have gotten pretty good at it.

I think my best time for 100% completion is around 1:55, not really sure for just blowing through the game though lol.
I'd like to get into seriously running Super Metroid at some point.

All I do is speedrun Megaman X games honestly.

That game was so fun I took my sweet time with it. I played that game several hours a day after school for a week. No clue what my time was,but like I said,I took my time with this masterpiece.

Played through the other night with my brother when we were having a couple drinks and got 100% in under 3 hrs game time. It was a pretty laid back run. I can't remember my best 100% time but I've done a minimal run in about 40 minutes in game time back when I actually use to practice a bit (10 years ago). I lost patience pretty fast though.

Your time doesn't count unless you save the animals.

I'd say that's pretty damn fast ^_^

It's funny how it works because you put in so much time trying to save time. I remember spending hours on certain rooms trying to get the tricks down to save only a few seconds off the time. I guess that's what speed running is all about though. It's not a bad game to speed run though as it's practice friendly. You'd have to emulate other games to practice effectively I would think.
