I'll be honest, I'm not too excited about this. MST3K is probably my favorite show of all time, but it was just one of those magic right time, right place, right people scenarios you can't repeat, and it's been gone so long I doubt they could get back the magic. Also it's kind of pointless to me, since Rifftrax exists and has been carrying on the riffing tradition with flying colors. The nail in the coffin for me though was casting Felicia Day as a Mad, her "haha I'm so nerdy and quirky!" shtick is not something I'm a fan of and I don't think it'd be a good fit for MST3K. I do hope it goes over well, but I'm on the cautious side of cautiously optimistic until I watch the first episode.
I'd sooner give the new cast the benefit of the doubt. I trust Joel knows what he's doing.

After the past 2 days, this is starting to look more possible.

If Wednesday nets $157,438, then the last 2 days need to raise 77.24% of the first 2 days ($379,394 and $620,404) in order to reach $5.5m. This counts $255k in add-ons thus far, but not further add-ons. If these numbers play out, I wouldn't expect $4.4m to be hit until Thursday morning, however.

Damn! Hope it reaches 4.4 at least since it's so close! Pretty amazing to see if reach 4 million though! Just proves there is still a strong fan base out there! I always loved mst3k!

I think this really can't go wrong. Worst case scenario, I get to watch some stupid movies with some bad comedy on the side. Some of the early MST3K episodes are not very good, but I always enjoy watching cheesy movies even by themselves, so I'm fine with it.

The 9-episode stretch goal has just been reached, leaving the final 60 hours to raise another $1.1m and reach 12 episodes.

Joel just posted a mind-blowing list of potential cameos: Jack Black, Joel McHale, Bill Hader, Neil Patrick Harris, Seinfeld, and Mark Hamill. I had an inkling about Hamill after he pledged and Joel replied, but seeing this kind of high-profile support is unreal.

I'm just glad they got 9 episodes but 14 episodes, that's crazy.
Like I said before, probably doesn't matter who the cast is, as long as the movies are weird enough & the joke writing is funny.

I have bootlegs of all episodes except the first 3. While I don't support the concept of crowd funding, I am excited about this!

I had read an interview with Jim Mallon that was proba bly a couple of years old where he hinted at possibly (finally) releasing those first three KTMA episodes. That would be too cool if they actually did, considering they have not been seen since their initial airings in late 1987.

Well, November 1988.

Fourteen new episodes! What a great result. Twelve just wasn't enough for all us rabid MSTies.
