Hello everyone and welcome to the latest installment of the weekly contests.  This week's game is going to be Terra Cresta.  Here are the rules:

• 1 player only
• Play until Game Over
• Take your picture on the Title Screen
• You may NOT enter design mode to reconfigure your ship
• Highest score wins
• GENRE: Shooter/Shoot 'Em Up

The contest ends Sunday, 6/2/13 at 10 PM NA time.  Your user name MUST be in the picture for your score to be valid.  The entire TV screen, or computer monitor if you are playing on an emulator, MUST be in the picture for the score to be valid.  No partial screenshots will be considered or accepted.  No screenshots by hitting "print screen" on a computer will be allowed.  You must take a picture of your computer monitor.  There may be instances where this will be acceptable, but it will be at the discretion of myself and the contest organizers.  Also, the use of turbo controllers is forbidden, as well as any cheat codes, Game Genies, or save states if playing on an emulator.  Also, we will only be using NTSC systems for the contests.  The use of PAL systems will NOT be allowed.  Good luck everyone and have fun

I had to buy a copy off ebay and with the holiday tomorrow, I probably won't get it until Thursday or Friday. Hopefully I'll still get a chance to get a score in this week.

Played this for the first time last week between breaks from TMNT 3. I really like this game. I will have a score posted soon.

That's a very decent score man. Last time we held a Terra Cresta contest I think I got something like 160k. But I intend to improve

You should buy one of those nes usb controllers. That's what I use. Works just fine for me. Got mine off ebay for $10.

Had no time to get in a score for TMNTIII last week even though I was honing my skills extensively (got up to Leatherhead). Should have snapped it there. Oh well, this is a cool one, never really took the time to play it thoroughly.

Broke 100K! How come I never got this! I'll buy this one ASAP!

I ordered one of those last week so hopefully it will come tomorrow and I'll be able to play with it until the actual game gets here. I'm not a fan of emulators, but I forgot about today being a postal holiday and I didn't buy a cart in time.

I'm addicted! Wasted all of this evening in this game, and more to come! *sigh*... If only I had the real deal!

EDIT: MASSIVE Point increase thanks to my Atomic Dino techinque (Shoot the atom at the dinos, die (while getting an extra life due to the points yielded by the dinos) and go at it again. If you have less than 3 lives, continue, rack up some points, then when you find another atom/dino spot, have no mercy and kill those dinos!) Following is a picture of a good spot!!! (Ignore "Recording Finished". I'm not too familiar with how to take screenshots, record footage, etc.)

Just checked the last time we played this and it seems I made a point of talking about the design mode. Basically it allows you to reconfigure your ship's formation in the "a" mode, but of course it's disallowed this time around. That's gonna make it much harder without the customization aspect...I recall tinkering with that quite a bit to perfect it and I ended up placing. Just another example of how rules changes force us to adapt and improve in these contests.

(On the other hand, the Game Over rule will provide some relief).

I havn't actually played this game before. Its pretty neat, I really hope I get more time to put into it this week

Not sure if you can actually beat this game or if it's highscore only, but this is one of the games they haven't crossed off in the "Can NA beat NES" thread. Post in there if you meet the requirements!

There isn't an ending,but the last boss you fight before the game loops is a purplish machine that spits out hands that chase you.

Edit: I'd highly advise playing this when you are extremely tired. I tried just that tonight as I haven't been able to play since sunday night. It didn't end well as I kept dying in areas that never posed me any problems before. Extremely,extremely frustrating as I really was hoping to up my score tonight.

Wow, all of the scores are pretty close together. It will be interesting to see how they separate out by the end of the week.

I've never heard of this game before, but I'm enjoying it so far. Wish I owned it.
