Picked up a Super Mario Bros Black Box.  Looks to be 2nd edition, glossy sticker.  All complete in box with with game, case and plastic bag, manual, nintendo game plan poster, styrofoam insert - everything looks brand new/never played - box in great condition with a few marks.  Glossy sticker is still in tact, wasn't ripped through the middle/torn like most.
Looks like it was opened, then stuck back down onto the lid/flap - guess that's about as close to sealed as you can get. Pictures attached.
Thoughts?  First post - be gentle.  Thanks for your help!

Also picked up Golf black box - matte sticker (1st release?), opened - sticker ripped through the middle - everything in similar condition as Super Mario.

Wow. I think that $22,000 sale was a second edition with a grading of 6. This is in way better condition than that one.

I will say that if this is one of those now-coveted 1st/2nd editions (I'm no expert on what they look like but I do pay attention to high dollar sales) then at this point in collecting, all anyone can really say is "whatever someone is willing to pay for it."

But, if you want to sell this and want to maximize your profits, you probably do want to get with one of the auction houses that now sell games and also get this sealed/graded and have them auction this. Again, I can't vouch whether your observation is correct but if you want to do better than $22k, if possible, you have to be sure to do more than posting this as-is on eBay with a title like "SUPER MARIO BROS! 2nd Print. Wow! L@@K! ~ Great Condition!"

EDIT

Curious, what's the story behind the pick up?  Did you get anything else with it other than this can golf?  Even if it's not exciting?  We collectors always enjoy the extra details, even if they are mundane.  It adds to the overall provenance of the pick up.

This one ended for $4300 in May on HA. The condition of yours is much better.

Thank you for the feedback - I appreciate it.  Trying to not get too excited here, after initially passing out!
I've been looking at Wata Games grading process - would they be your recommendation for grading?
Sending it off to TX makes me nervous.  After grading, seems like auction is the best route to go to max profit.

This pickup was dumb luck, really.  Estate sale, didn't advertise any games, but there was a ton of new, unopened electronics.
Sounded like it was older person who liked to shop, family had no idea, and would buy multiples of things, open one and leave one.  I've picked up a few common games here and there, but never went looking for them.  Searching through everything at this sale and the two games were in a box in a paper bag, could have easily been picked up by anyone - there were some controllers and cords, but no nintendo in sight.  When I saw them, nostalgia kicked in and I initially thought "sweet, I'll pick these up, this is what I grew up playing" - knew they were in good condition and being in box was good, but had absolutely no idea of its potential value.   There wasn't much gaming stuff other than an xbox - but a ton of electronics - probably 150+ keyboards, 100+ mice, 100+ clocks, over 1000 DVDs, and then a mix of anything else you could think (razors, tools, christmas stuff, barbie dolls) - My favorite being a few boxes of dashboard hula girls, all new.  Most everything was duplicates with one open and one new.  I picked up a good amount of stuff.

Anyways - I really appreciate your feedback and suggestions.

Precisely right.

Also, to everyone else the $22k 6.0 one was a matte First Print, not a gloss.
