SEGA is finally going to have competition in the "last minute Christmas gifts from Rite-Aid" market.

Here's a verbatim example: "OK, there's Ganon and miniature Ganon and there's these things like jelly beans and the miniature Ganon is more powerfuller, because when you touch him the flying eagles come down and the octopus shoots red rocks and the swamp takes longer." I have many carts and real systems but might still grab this because that game list is killer! I would buy it just to kirby's adventure and balloon fight again and again!

Some of the licensing for the included games is really surprising.

I'm also a bit surprised they didn't simply offer the console with 2 controllers and make that the only way to get them.
I'm sure lots of people want Wii compatible NES-style controllers, and would have bought the set just for them.

I just saw this on Facebook and couldn't tell if it was a joke.

I'm glad it's not! This is an insane list of games! I'm really excited to see how well they look and function.

Would be a great back up turnkey system to have in an office or maybe in the master bedroom, where the wife or girlfriend doesn't allow any consoles or stacks of games!

I patiently await for someone to crack this thing open and see what we can really do with it.

So if StarTropics is included, will it include a replica of the letter with the secret code? Or will Nintendo be updating the ROM to remove that puzzle? I wonder if Nintendo will be updating the other ROMs on this thing to fix bugs and/or adjust difficulty?

I'm wondering how it will hook into a TV. I can't imagine it would use just composite.

Bahahaha, very good sir! I hope that they do it right, and don't overflood their own market with twenty different editions, boxes, colors, etc. The big N has always had a little more class when it comes to stuff like that, so we'll see.

Nope. This only makes prices of original hardware go up.

Are you kidding? People admitted in the Pokemon thread that they collect those games and never play them.   I see most picking it up just to have it.

I'm willing to bet that they'll just have a master-manual that packs in with the system that covers all of the game and includes the code.

Why would they make changes to the ROMs to adjust difficulty?
(and I suspect many of the bugs on games of that era are not inherently fixable due to underlying implementation issues and system limitations and would require ground-up rewrites to eliminate)

I didn't even think about the code until just now; you're probably right.

That makes sense if you're trying to market to the largest customer base.

For that matter, I wouldn't be surprised if the StarTropics code got a mention in the manual AND received a separate small pack-in note so that you were sure to see it.

There's speculation that this is essentially a re-packaged Wii.  It makes sense, with the Classic Controllers, save state support, and licensing issues with the 3rd party games.

It will be really inteeresting to open this sucker up when it's released.

Retailers get ready to sell THE SHIT out of these... Also would be really amazing if this turns out to be a retooled Wii in a shell. Man this was just a matter of time; just happy to see that it looks like they're doing it right!

Retooled Wii might be the cheapest option, especially if they had leftover hardware.

Haha true. But picking it up just to have it means you're not using it, so it's useless! I don't doubt this will sell extremely well amongst NES collectors, but it is not needed by the community cause we've already got NES's and games.

Personally, I'm going to get 5 and VGA them to sell 30 years down the road. JKJKJKJKJK lolololol.

About damn time I see Atari flashbacks and Sega, and the others over the holidays for several years and always wished Nintendo would do one. This is awesome!

Now I wonder how long it will be to see a Super Nintendo one. *gasp*

Knowing Nintendo, they'll probably ship a third of the demand to the US and come December we'll be talking about scalpers and collectors camping out overnight at Dollar General stores to snag one.
