There were a few.
It is important to note that the year BEFORE the one we're talking about, there was a loose (2600) Magicard. I think its worth like a grand. I'm pretty sure swlovinist (he's a member here) won it, and then traded it for a Stadium Events cart.
But last year:
1st one went up, Drexel923 (who is also a member here) won it for like $200. All crap Atari commons (or something like that).
Then the next one went up, and I think it went for $400... also to Drexel923. All crap Intellivision games (or something like that).
Then! This is where it got interesting. The guy running the auction took a handfull (like 10 or so) or Atari prototypes, and put them into a box, which none of us could see. Then, he pulled out TWO boxes. And he said that the protos were in ONE of the boxes, but there could be something else in the other box, but there might not be.
Nicola, the guy who runs gamesniped, who likes his protos, won the auction for $600, and then he got to choose which box he wanted (without knowing either of their contents). With showmanship, he picked one of the boxes, and it was the protos... he was happy.
THEN, the other box went up for auction, which sold for $1,200... and it was a loose Video Life for the 2600. Crazy rare.
I would never bid on a CGE box because they would always be Atari items. Still fun to watch, though
