Thanks for all the opinions and discussion guys.
We are working now to revise the FAQ and make an announcement regarding this situation.
If gift payments become unwelcome, then I can no longer sell anything on this site. The difference between gift and non-gift is not just the fees for me. With gift, I can ship using first class mail. With non-gift, I am required to charge and use expedited parcel, which costs double the amount ($7 vs $15). Some people are willing to pay double the shipping cost for the peace of mind, but it prices cheaper games out of the market.
I'm not following this.. Unless it's different in the great white north, you can't print shipping from a gift transaction unless you just use the generic shipping page. But you can technically use that for all transactions.
I agree that requesting extra for fees makes the seller look like a cheapskate. But, I think we shouldn't govern that. The buyer isn't being forced to make the purchase, as you can always cancel transactions and walk away. I feel it would be better to stay away from forbiding it and recommend that people not do it just like gifting payments.
I always request that people send payment as goods. In fact, if you've ever bought from me you've probably seen..
Please send payment as
goods!!
It actually is a hassle to me when I get gifted payments. I'd rather eat the fees and have the luxury of using multi-order shipping then save a few and have to copy+paste names and addresses. Guess I'm lazy..
Plus I don't want paypal breathing down my neck.
