Indeed. Having trouble passing my own high score, keep averaging 500,000-600,000 something lately and seem to keep dying in the same damn places.

Lincon does your TV have dials on it?  That's pretty excellent.

yeah, UHF and VHF channels also fake wood grain on the sides and top. i think it's from 1984 or so. I bought it because it has the regular f-type coax input as well as the old prong style posts for an atari switchbox.

You are definitely do good Krunch. You should catch up to my score in no time. I haven't been able to play much the past couple day, been working a lot of days straight, plus working on another cross-stitch in my free time, but I'll certainly try to get in a couple games before it ends tomorrow, because I don't feel secure that my score is going to be good enough for 1st place, I just have this feeling someone or two is going to pass a million points on this.

That round that you died on, at the start, jump to the middle platform, wait til first baddie comes up to you from bottom of screen on left side, blow bubble at him, then the others on the left will come down into range, get them all too, but then you still have one left on the right, you should have plenty of time to drop down the right side of the screen and land on the right top edge of the bottle shape design in middle of screen and when he comes towards you encase him too, then when they have all floated to the very center drop down and burst them all.

Yeah, with any luck I will. I don't have a whole bunch of time to play today or tomorrow, though. I'm consistently getting score in the high 400,000s right now. I also think someone will break a million before the end but I am happy with just getting better than Participant.

Honestly, that stage that I died on I only played once. I just died for a stupid reason, I'm not really having troubles with any specific level. My biggest problem is accidentally getting EXTEND. I get really bummed because there are some levels where I'm guaranteed to get 64,000 + fruit bonuses but I end up completing EXTEND and getting nothing. It's funny because I bet this game wouldn't be that hard to complete in the traditional way but on one life it's not so easy.

Looks like the TG record score is 6 millionish. I think you get a million point bonus for beating the final boss.

The one life thing is definitely a challenge.

This will probably stand as my score. This contest was fun. Thanks guys. I think that the NES version kind of neutered the arcade game by making the game more about progressing through the levels than getting a high score. I wanted to get up into the 5's, but I have a couple dozen clams and some gazpacho calling me.
I ended up listening to a couple of records after about an hour of the in game music. Saturday Night Fever soundtrack, followed by Black Sabbath's Paranoid. Sonically (not lyrically), Black Sabbath seemed to fit better, oddly enough. Anyone else listening to music while they play?
I hate level 30.

I remember how mad I was when I was a kid the day I finally beat this game only to receive a message saying bad ending because I didn't collect the letters. This is the first time I've played since then, and i'm still terrible at it, with a whopping score of 95,740.

 

You guys are doing really good, and I'm glad to see much more competitors than last time game was held.

 

What the hell, how'd my post get duplicated?

I painted my NES today and I have not been able to find my copy of BB, either my daughter left it somewhere or I accidentally included it in the last lot of games I sold. Oh well, I think I have another copy coming with a lot I bought this week. If I get my Toaster back together and find my game before the deadline tomorrow, I will post my score. Damn, this was one I might have placed in, I hope I find my copy.

 

I played this game tons tonight and the best I could pull of was 760 thousand something. I can't get near touching my best score yet, kind of upsetting that I can't best myself. I've been at it for a couple hours so going to give it a rest for tonight before I start doing terrible. Maybe I'll get a few more shots at it tomorrow evening when I get home from work, if not, well then you guys still have a chance to drop me to the bottom.

My best so far is 430,000... and I can't seem to do it again. I'm gonna keep trying tonight for a little while, and go at it for a couple of hours tomorrow... If I can't get back to 430,000 I am going to regret not taking a picture.
