I'm going to make two changes to the rules and it shouldn't effect any scores that have been submitted so far. First off, if you loop the game twice, take your picture before level 1 starts up again on the third loop (like Swiftfrost did). I decided on only two loops because if you're good at this game, you can loop it for hours.
Second, if you loop the game twice, multiply your score by the number of lives you have remaining. I get that some people would prefer furthest progression/low score, but to me, it sucks the fun out of a game like this. We are going to stick with highest score and no point racking. It's okay to kill a couple of enemies that respawn if you get pinned down by gunfire, but I don't want to see people standing in the same spot for an hour killing the same enemies over and over. Just play through the game naturally. The Contra games are tough to come up with a perfect set of rules for because of a lot of the issues described already in this thread. It's been a while since we last played this game in the contests and I wanted to add it to the rotation so we aren't playing the same group of games every other year.
