Would anyone here be interested in doing a "Nerdy Nights" type article for the E-Zine?

I'm constantly trying to think on how the E-Zine can be improved and it seems like a good number of members are interested in homebrews and the technical side of things. So I thought it might be cool to do something like a Nerdy Nights where in each issue someone would write up something along the lines of what you see in the Nerdy Nights thread.

**To expand on this thought here are some ideas:

Custom mods to systems, games or accessories
Steps in creating a homebrew game
Restoring arcade cabinets

I'm open to ideas as well since you guys will be the ones writing these up.

What do you guys think?

I'd be interested in doing an Neo Geo side, for homebrew or unreleased games.

Also NES/SNES titles. Flash chips etc.

Sweet! Do you have any samples of stuff you've written before? If so could you send it to [email protected]

I wrote a few very brief tutorials on here for some of the "harder" NES roms.

I've also worked a little with mindstorm from Planet Virtual Boy to do reproductions for the virtual boy. I've done it with just wiring to the board with a M27C322 eprom or using homemade PCBs that mindstorm gave me for free. I now have a copy of Bound High, Space Squash translated and Gundam SD Translated (oh and Blox 1 and 2).

I've also worked with Xi Xian and NeoTurfMasta from neo-geo.com when I was doing reproductions of Ironclad and Ghostlop, both games are incredibly fun and never saw a retail release. The CHR and PRG of the neo-geo are incredibly more complex than the NES/SNES in terms of size etc. I've always been a "simple" terms guy, so I think I can relate to your readers by proving a few tutorials (similar to your SNES and NES articles in previous issues), but with a little more information and what not if you wish.

I can also do a writeup of how to do a consolized arcade system (google CMVS). I know it's a nintendo magazine, but you could include an arcade section for one magazine issue and see if people like it. The Neo Geo is another great console from the 90s.

I can maybe write up something this week and give you it. Do you have a template you would like used? That would help me format my writing style, etc.

"Nerdy Nights" is a BunnyBoy "trademark". I wouldn't call it that without his permission if I were you.

Would you be interested in what goes into the technical side of a good fan translation?

Sure, I'm open to basically anything you guys are up to writing about. Would you mind sending me an example at [email protected]?

Thanks!
