I was thinking about this earlier today. Hyrule Historia is supposed to be a "history book" of Hyrule and explain the timeline of the Zelda series, which makes it desireable to many collectors but what happens 5 or 10 years from now when more games in the series get released? The timeline grows and potentially changes depending on where the new game would take place. So the "historical" ifo in the book becomes outdated and possibly wrong. I could see it dropping in value because of this sometime in the future. Though not crash becasue it does have many other things in it like concept drawings and such.

All depends on how much change takes place, if a better, updated version comes out, this will be as valuable as a 2010 college book in the year 2015. Sure it's cool and all for now, I have one myself and it's great. The only one that will hold/increase in value regardless is the limited edition. The regular one won't do much beyond it's current value since you can still buy in brand new from a bunch of online stores.

I honestly doubt anyone is buying it for the actual history of the series.

And for all we know they could do "volume 2" which starts from where this one left off.

Personally, I just like having it. The $20 price tag was perfect for me to pick it up, and if it goes up or down makes no difference to me.

Once the hype burns off it probably will maintain the value but I don't see the standard one going up as there's heaps of them. The limited one would be a tough call depending on how many raging future fanboys want a piece of that action otherwise if interest dropped so would the price.

I think the only way price really matters is if you bought 500+ copies. For regular ppl who bought 1 for $20 I think they could care less..

Yea, for being a Zelda piece, and a video game based book, $20 is a great price, plus it's hard cover, well over 200 pages, full color, etc. It's hard to even argue the $20 price point to begin with, so much value IMO.

Its value in reality is mostly as Skyward Sword ephemera. Timeline changes or not shouldn't change most collectors interest (or disinterest) in the book.

The regular edition wont increase in price, its still being published. Not sure about the LE, but we wont go there. The last thread about the LE did not go very well...

I'm 99% sure that the regular edition won't be worth much, ever. When the book got released, it was the best selling book on the entire Amazon website. That goes to show how many copies were sold and how many of them are currently circulating and the book is still being printed. The supply is pretty much always gonna cover the demand.

As far as the limited edition goes which only 4000 copies exist, it all depends on the series itself.
If the Zelda series in 10 or 20 years are doing as good as they are doing now, then the series will maintain a huge fanbase and collectibles and limited editions from the past will inflate since the fanbase is huge and will continue to grow, creating a bigger demand for a limited supply.

Seems like a pretty popular book so I doubt it will retain it's value.

I haven't kept up with the demand/availability on this one, but I did see three sealed copies sitting on the shelf at Books A Million just yesterday.

The only comparable I can talk to is the Resident Evil Archives. Resident Evil Archives was $100-$125 at one point, and then volume II came out. Volume II never got to be more than about $40 though.

Now they've reprinted a Volume I / II together as a combo. It retailed for about $30 but I guess resellers bought all the stock and now I only see it at $100 on Amazon. But it still killed the price of the first two alone, Volume I is now like $50 and Volume II is more like 15.

Don't collect strategy guides with the intent of profiting. Of course there will be a reprinted or modified version as more Zelda games are released.

A single individual title does not "crash". It's a Zelda book that is not limited, and it will get cheaper and cheaper until they stop printing them, and then the price will go up as all the remaining copies disappear. The book can't go up in value while it still costs $20 new.

Welp it's been 6 years and the standard book is cheap and still produced I think. But the Limited Edition seems to command a pretty penny though all the completed auctions are for a sealed one.

He got unbanned during the clusterfuck that was the NA sale to GoCollect. Not sure if he was rebanned shortly thereafter, but I haven't seen him since so I'm guessing so!
