Whats up everyone...I am joining from the Dallas area specifically Mckinney for those that know the area.  Looking to get back into video games.  Been long gone for a while and the new systems and games have passed me by.  Where do you guys suggest I start my search to build up my collection?  I am starting from scratch.

A good place to start in terms of collecting is childhood stuff. Start with games you may have played as a kid or just games from that era.

FX Game Exchange in Plano, Nostalgic Nerd... forgot where his new store is opening, Freaks and Geeks in Denton.

-------------------------

My best friend's sister's boyfriend's brother's girlfriend heard from this guy who knows this kid who's going with the girl who saw Ferris pass out at the Let's Play Gaming Expo last night. I guess it's pretty serious.

Oh, my WTB thread is very popular. The sportos, the motorheads, geeks, sluts, bloods, wastoids, dweebies, Richard craniums - they all adore it. They think it's a righteous thread.
I'd also like to add that I've got my father's gun and a *scorching* price guide for aftermarket Nintendo games.
Between Dragon Warriors and nothing... I'll take Dragon Warriors - for any of my FT/FS/FO items.

Hey there chappy.

I agree start with your childhood and go from there. Decide early on if you want loose or cib, it's a pain if you change your mind later, and check ebay frequently. Decent deals can be had if you're patient

Welcome Chappy!

DFW has a pretty solid retro gaming community that you should try to get involved with. Dallas Retro Gamers and Texas Retro Collectors (both Facebook groups) hold regular monthly meet ups around town. They are great for meeting new friends and you can usually find good deals. Definitely check out FX in Plano, Freaks and Geeks in Denton and there is a Game Exchange up in McKinney on 380 just east of 75 that is worth checking out on occasion. Nostalgic nerd is opening their new shop in a week or two in Grapevine I believe. Follow them on social media. Retro Madness and Galactic Gamez are good to check out too. Also, look into going to Retrofest in Fort Worth next spring, Let's Play Gaming Expo in the summer and Retropalooza next fall.

Thanks for the tip.  I can see how it would be a PITA down the road if I changed my mind.

Tanks for all the info.  I didnt know about the expos & festivals in the area.  I recently went to the game exchange in Mckinney.  They seemed to have a nice collection to choose from.

They are sweet, I have one myself but I never use it since there are more options now that are much easier to mod.

SNES classic or a Raspberry PI machine.

Better controllers and there are more options for them in general, with xbox you are just limited to the Xbox controllers and let's be honest they aren't that good.

Modding an Xbox is also a pain in the ass and the software for updating everything and adding/deleting files isn't as streamlined as the software used for the two I mentioned above.

Hell even a modded Wii is a lot better than a modded xbox.
