So I've been looking for one of these weird things for a while and really wanted a CIB one (which was why it was taking me so long to pull the trigger to buy one) but one finally popped up on Craigslist on the other side of the country in a tiny little town on the outskirts of a different tiny little town in the middle of nowhere. It took me a couple weeks to convince the seller to ship it to me because of the hassle of this being a heavier/larger item. I began to lose hope that they would ship it to me so I kept checking ebay and was able to snag the game boy and game for a BIN of $33.33 after the listing was up for only an hour. I was quite excited

The link: http://www.ebay.com/itm/251537430...

The same day I scored the ebay copy, the seller calls me and tells me the shipping quote and I agree and throw in a few more dollars on top of their asking price and shipping quote to cover paypal fees for a total of $145 shipped, which I think was a great deal. The whole setup arrived today and I wanted to share. There was no original packaging inside the boxes, but aside from that, everything seems to be complete with manuals. The boxes are in rough shape, but I was surprised that the interior box was still present! The seller told me that it doesn't work properly, but most likely the bobbins need to be aligned (which I have no idea how to do), so I'll probably take it to a sewing machine repair shop for an all-around tune up so hopefully I can get it working (not that I plan on doing any sewing...). So now I guess I'm "stuck" with TWO copies of the GBC sewing cart! lol

P.S., Mods, can I haz award icon now please?

Those are pretty cool!
My Junior High had a complete classroom set of these. This would... 2000-2004? I believe. If they still arent using them I would bet money they are in the basement storage.

Who knows, if I had one I would probably consider getting in to sewing.

At $300-$400 USD per machine, that is a lot for a school to drop for an entire classroom of sewing machines, especially ones with Game Boys and games that can get lost or stolen! ...or maybe I just went to a shady school where that kind of thing would totally happen within the first week of having them. haha

I'm actually really surprised as well. I believe they tethered the gameboys to the machines and collected the carts at the end of class? I can't remember. My sister attends the school, I'll ask her if they still use them.

It really is a fun little machine. I got one for the wife so I could "infiltrate" her sewing room with video game stuff. She loves it, but never uses it.
It is basically a very primitive embroidery machine (one thread color only)and the needle only moves about 1/4 inch at a time.
I have a video of hers in action here.

Very cool! I believe I watched this video when I was looking into it more to essentially see how it's supposed to work after the seller said that it was giving her error messages when she tested it. hopefully it's not a huge deal to fix.

I think I saw one of these in a thrift store. I knew there was a sewing machine for Gameboy but I didn't pick it up because I didn't see any Nintendo branding on it.

If you need help getting it running, shoot me a PM. It took a little reading through the manual (and her sewing know how) to get it running.
Pretty basic if somebody knows how to use a sewing machine.

Yeah, I freaked out a bit when I saw it had not been snagged already seeing as there are only two other copies on ebay right now (I think). It was posted by an estate seller so I definitely lucked out since they obviously didn't know what they had.

I considered jumping on a CIB (and 99% new) one that had been on Ebay for awhile, but I already have 2 Husqvarna Viking sewing/embroidery machines, plus a 15 year old Kenmore and a 60 year old Admiral. I just ditched my other Kenmore, and the last thing I needed was another sewing machine, especially one that does things my HVs do with their eyes closed. xD

Congrats! Do you sew? I used to sell and teach sewing classes if you need some advice.

I don't sew, but I have a machine now if I need to! I'll certainly let you know if I need some help setting it all up! Thanks!
