I have a question, if you own the original cart in another language is it ok to buy a repro with an English translation? I'm no lawyer and don't have the slightest and what about hacks if you own the original rom. For the original Zelda I should be able to buy all the hacks I want as I've purchased that game at least 7 times from nintendo.

I'm no lawyer either, but hacks are still considered using another entity's property without consent.

And even if you own the original cart, I believe the law states that you can make your own backup. Thus, obtaining a translated cartridge from someone is still a violation.

Whether it's "okay" or not varies from person to person. I personally like repros as long as there was no official release in your region (I'm looking at you, Secret of Mana 2)... but others could easily disagree, and I respect that.

Personally, I only buy "repro" games that were never released in my region. Still waiting on several such games to arrive at my door from gamereproductions.com after many months...

I agree with say star fox 2, secret of mana 2, and games like that. I guess I'm in the camp that believes hacks are ok if you own the original rom and as long as somebody isn't actually making money off the hack.

I sell my repros Ive made on Etsy and here. They dont sell often but at least I get them to people in a good time. Hate the ones that sell rare games. I will only deal with hacks.

I just had to give my update as well. I should have known better to order from him a second time after waiting so long the first time around, but the trade in credit I was getting could not be ignored.
Unfortunately, it's 2 years later and I still don't have my full order.
Since putting in my order I have bought a house, had a baby, and my wife was diagnosed and beat cancer.
But this guy doesn't have the time to respond to an email

Anything ever happen from all of this? Just got a black friday sale email frim him randomly - i havent purchased from them in probably a decade. Thought it was strange.

I just sent another email because of this sale. How can you continue to take orders.. when you still need to complete orders from 2+ years ago.

Edit: after seeing their cyber Monday sale on thee website I emailed (from an alternative email address) saying I had trades. Interesting enough, he emailed me back within hours. I then Responded, calling him out for ignoring me. Now I wait to see what he has to say.
I’m getting pretty close to lawyering up.
