I finally scored a copy of “Chubby Cherub “for the NES for $60 ,I have never played this game .From the YouTube videos I have seen it looks pretty primitive in terms of graphics and sound ,which of course makes sense since it was released in 1986 ..But I a little on the fence about what I see of the gameplay ..

It's not a game you buy for the gameplay. Although I do find the music to be catchy.

It's a weird game and very challenging. Some might find the quirkiness appealing. I wouldn't pay $60 for it though.

I always preferred the Famicom version. Cheaper, and Q-taro is an actual anime character as opposed to the cherub nobody has heard of before or since.

It's a decent action platformer/floater game. The traps in the later stages where you have to avoid the cats and kill the bulldog guarding the way out are bullshit, though.

I vaguely remember the first time I tried playing it, I moved halfway across the screen and couldn't get over a box. I tried for a few minutes and it was impossible to jump over so I gave up and haven't tried it since.

Don't sound like a connoisseur to me! If you weren't sure about it why did you buy it? Going for a full set? Any game I wasn't sure of I usually emulated to get a feel than made my decision. Unless it was for a price I couldn't say no to. I personally think its just ok.

He travels a lot and finds games evidently, with no way to play them. This is not the first thread of this type from OP.

Oh, and if you didn't hear, he has an NWC.

No, but that doesn't mean anything. I see some humor in the term 'connoisseur' and not being familiar with Chubby Cherub until after buying it.

Well yeah, you're right but I just wouldn't consider myself a connoiseur of those systems haha.

Has food “connoisseurs eaten every food dish ?I highly doubt it,yet they have eaten enough food dishes to Be called a “ connoisseur “,much they same way I have played enough NES games to consider myself an NES connoisseur..So your logic makes no sense ..

Seems to be correct use of word by OP

Moe: Back when I was Gorgeous, everybody wanted a piece of me. But somehow, I just never made it to the big time. Homer: Why not? Moe: 'Cause I got knocked out forty times in a row. That, plus politics. You know, it's all politics. Homer: [glaring] Lousy democrats.

Personally, I've always enjoyed this game. It was the very first game I purchased from a pawnshop when I began collecting and is what kept me going.

I was under the impression connoisseur meant 'expert'. Anyway, enough derailing this thread.

That theme is one of the most persistent NES earworms.

The term “connoisseur “derives from a French meaning “one who knows “/or has a great deal of knowledge on any particular subject..That could mean someone is an “expect “on a subject /field,or that could simply mean one as a working knowledge of something .In theory the term “connoisseur “ could apply to anyone of us that has been collecting video games for years ..

For a connoisseur, yeah. $60 well spent.
