If anyone is confused, they can just ask a mod

And come on, reproduction twist ties and holes? I know we're anal, but you got to see the trolling.

Thats why we, the mods, patrol the site- and "most people" don't. 

We pay attention to trolls. 

And don't forget kids, mods and admins don't have to justify what they do.  If you do get an answer "why", then luck was shinning down on you. There are checks and balances to make sure mods don't go rogue

this is 10% feedback and 90% whining- that is has gone to twenty something posts is a testament to the mods' patience.

My take on Mod's is the same as politicians. Some are great and others not so much. Kinda balances things out a bit. I've had a thread or 2 locked on my ass and it doesn't bother me too much(after stewing for a bit😜).
I've always wondered though.........
Is there like a training course they take before becoming the overseers? Seems kind of like a fruitless job if you ask me.

Well, there's been a couple of times ages ago when people did some crazy stuff like handle things with rubber gloves and stuff. (I can't really remember who in general, but iicr some dude was self-grading stuff, and another guy who was just an arse to the community handled his collection with rubber gloves... kind of disturbing to say the least.) 

It's hard to tell if if people like that are just trolling, or they simply have a screw or two loose. Or both.

Either way, it's best to lock those kinds of threads as they do more harm than good. Heck, even some good old fashioned "harmless" trolling is bad since people will mistake it for something truthful. Heck, it fooled the OP. 

 

As for 'harmless' trolling and things like that, if I've ever thought it was questionable I will PM a mod and say "Hey, can I say this or is it too much?" and if the mod says maybe don't say that... cool, I won't cross that line.

Like was said, we can always ask if there is a question. Maybe that way you don't risk the ban.

Oh yeah, I've seen users try to authenticate their air holes before. To what extent will some users go for their stuff? I'm not sure. Like I addressed before I would've sent a pm, but this topic seemed borader*

But anyways, it's cleared up now. I still think threads are locked too easily, but it's all a matter of perspective. There's always going to be push and shove, and it's hard to quantify justifications. Unless you're ^^
 

I'm no mod, but if you have to ask, you probably shouldn't say it.   


 

Tubeway's thread was kind of funny, but for him that's the exception rather than the norm. Wasn't at all surprised to see the thread locked.

It was in relation to things other people were saying/something that was going on.  I was going to say it as a joke.  The person making the actual trolling comments wasn't banned for it.

Would have been funny if they locked this before anyone responded.

The fact that a known troll is still on here shows how lenient the mods are. I modded on a forum and gave people 2 warnings after that the third warning was them never getting back on again. Needless to say I didn't last long as a mod lol

I've been here long enough to know that someone's head may have exploded if we did that.

So I might just have to next time!

Mods get dumped on too easily, it's the admins that are the maniacs on NA.
