Man I would of loved to try and break a record for this as I started to get really good at it. But I had other plans to visit my day in Minnesota this weekend so that took priority. But don't worry all there is a game I am waiting for I hope gets posted that I can easily max the score in

I'm pretty sure that only happens in one spot, so don't be discouraged thinking it's something to permanently deal with going forward.   After crossing the lake in one of the later stages, there's 3 waves of the saw blade looking enemies that come from behind.  Rarely there will be a lone single one as a 4th wave.

The only other things I remember coming from behind is when certain ships fly off the bottom of the screen, sometimes they will shoot back at you, even after they're gone off the screen.

Yeah, typically the ships that look like jets will wait until they leave the bottom of the screen to shoot. Good to know there isn't much of the enemies flying in from below.

I might give it another go.  I'm missing all the 1-ups people are talking about.  I've found the one in the lake, but only a few times.  I feel like I'm missing something. Like you have to shoot so many times, or have so many points for them to show up.

Some runs I find the three I know of sometimes I find none.

I just rain bombs in the area they might be.

This was a fun week. I lurked this thread for the running commentary and the pro tips but I have a lot of room for improvement with this game. You guys are all awesome as usual!

Side note: has anyone here watched a Japanese TV drama called No Continue Kid? Xevious is featured heavily throughout the series, but especially in the first episode. I know of the one in the first stage in the river to the left.

The second is in the inlet/lake area with the flying panels.

The third I know of is around the pier after the long blue area.

After the pier, wait until you get to the desert and flying walls again.  Right after you cross the inlet/lake again, there is a horizontal row of 4 ground items in the desert.  Bomb the line about 2 spaces above those.  It's pretty easy to get this 1UP, since there aren't any enemies around and you can start as soon as it's on screen and bomb just about the whole line.
