The only way I’d own Stadium Events is if I got super lucky and found it in the “wild”,like in the case of our fellow Nintendo Ager that recently scored one in a $100 lot ..

Why not buy Stadium Events if you won the lottery? You could always resell it again if you wanted, and even if it fell in value, who cares? You won the freaking lottery!

I think I would buy Metal Slug X if I manage to convince a nearby collector to sell it for a price that I'm willing to pay but this may take some time since he doesn't want to sell it right now. But the first one I don't think I will own in the near future.

I don't know about that right now. I have around 52 AES games already and I can see this number grow in the future.
But for the first Metal Slug the MVS alternative is very appealing. I can find it here in Brazil for around US$100 (cart only) so I may buy it.

So I'm going to make it a smidge more interesting and name a few games I actually personally Want, but will likely never get due to price (and my own limitation of only buying CIB).

Recca is one for sure. I'd love a nice condition CIB of that, easily the best shmup on the Famicom, but $1500 USD or more is about double my current most expensive game (CIB EVO). Is it possible that one day I treat myself? Sure, possible, but not likely.

Another would be New Adventure Island on TG16. It's not THAT expensive, and I love the Adventure Island series, but I don't own a TG16 and I doubt I ever will. I might play it on emulator sometime just to see what I'm missing.
There are definitely a few games like this for me, from this angle.

I am after collecting all Atlus games, and ideally CIB at that, but there are a few that are just out of reach that I am having trouble truly justifying:  Jack Bros for Virtual Boy and Amazing Tater for GB.  I don't have a Virtual Boy, and I'm just never sure I can really justify spending over $500 for a CIB Jack Bros just for my Atlus collection.  Amazing Tater is slightly different - I have the cart only, but a nice CIB is extremely expensive, and I just can't easily justify it.

After that - I'd say that there are a bunch of SNES games I'd love to have in a nice clean CIB - EVO is one of them.  Most of my SNES collection is cart only, and I've entertained the thought of upgrading to nice CIB's but man....mighty expensive hah.

Hello!  I want your "ATLUS" stuff!  Please see my list or send me a PM if you have cool ATLUS stuff!

Recca.....  Never heard of that one.  Is it a carnival game only or is there a complete version floating around as well?  TIA

The original Famicom cart has three options from the title menu: normal game, time attack (5 minutes), and score attack (2 minutes.)

There's also a second quest/hard mode accessed by either beating the normal game and resetting the console after the credits, and a hidden Zanki Attack (50 life survival game), both of which can be accessed by a code.

There's also a hacked ROM called Recca Pure, which puts all the modes on the title menu. There are reproduction carts of both.

Uhmmm.... ok

So as someone who likes shooters and has an everdrive should I just play Pure Recca?  In your opinion where should I start with this game I guess?  All I see on eBay are carnival carts which I htought were shortened games to play in small time intervals to see who gets the highest score.  TIA

Recca Pure just puts all the game modes up front, no need to press up+select+b or whatever to access the two hidden modes. If you just want to play the game on a flash cartridge, it's probably the easiest.

I don't know what the actual Summer Carnival in Japan used, but as far as I know, all the Famicom cartridges and the non-Pure reproductions use the same full ROM.

That's a lot of money you could spend on other things.  I think the other uses of that money would always bring me more pleasure.

10k for a Japanese version..... a US AES copy is probably triple that now. One of the rarest games out there by far.

Last time Kazuna Encoutner (Eu) sold, I think it was around $30k. Makes me wonder, if one of the few out there actually went up for sale, would hit 6 figures? 7? Neo Geo collectors are insane.

All of them.

Most I've spent on one game is $150. Only for an arcade cabinet would I go that high again, I think. Or higher of course, for that. But I'm not actively looking.

I was going to say Stadium Events but 39 of the 40 people who responded before me beat me to it.... I have no interest in that game whatsoever.

I guess a sealed Bubble Bobble 2. I'd actually like to get a copy of that one but don't see myself ever paying the amount of money it would probably take to get one (if I ever found one)

Hard to say because I've bought games I didn't think I would, but they tend to be in pursuit to a goal. Any NES game 300$+ at this point just simply isn't worth it to me as a game (not that any are but you know what I mean). Should I decide to complete my NA Neo Geo MVS collection then I might buy a couple games that I would otherwise have no genuine desire to purchase, but at least I own the major hitters that did interest me to play.

I would love to see a copy of Ultimate 11 go for sale, even a Japanese version. I have no idea how much it would cost.

For me, it has to be the non-retail NES stuff like World Championship carts. I also couldn't care less about sticker seals even though I had already accumulated several before anyone realized what they were.

I do want me some CIB Stadium Events though. Does my son really need to go to college? 🤔🤔
