Guess Ill start things off im wrldstrman(world strongest man) I spend a lot of time lifting and enjoy watching the worldest strongest man contests hence the nickname wrldstrman. I also like playing and collecting video games. I have close to 3000 games. I have a very near to complete nes collection and as soon as I can track down the few items I need it will be complete.Im probally one of the older collectors but It was us older guys who got to live thru the experince of seeing and playing the very first video gaming systems. I remember playing my neighbors pong system back in70s. My grandparents got a 2600 system when they first came out. Alot of people probally dont relize they sold for 270.00 dollars back in the day which most familys couldnt afford.
I got my first 2600 system in 1980 and a colecovision in 1983. Having not grown up in the computer age I dont get into the modern stuff. I enjoy collecting because its something I can do with my teenage son who will sit and play the older stuff with his old dad.

the big 40 never to old for video games. It was cool to be around when you could go to the local stores and buy new atari games.I can say I remember when all there was were board games so the older games bring back a lot of memories

That's the great thing about retro games -- you're never too old or too young to still enjoy playing and collecting. Especially collecting -- think of all the old farts out there that collect toys, comic books, pez dispensers, etc. Collecting is usually driven from the love of {fill in item here} when you were a kid, so it's really timeless and ageless in my opinion.

Matt here, 26 years old, grew up in the best decade imaginable if you ask me. Got my first Nintendo for my 6th birthday I believe, it was the Nintendo Action Set I believe, I've always been a Nintnedo Supporter buying each system that has come out, except the wonderful Vitrual Boy.....and I can't wait for the Wii to come out. I've got just about 100 NES games, so I've got a long road to go before I compelete a collection, just happy to be here though.

My name is Kenny , 21 years old. Still going to school. I live in belgium. My hobbies are playing/collecting cartridge based games (NES , SNES , N64 , SMS...) , playing socccer and playing foosball. I also read a little when i've got much spare time. My first console was a NES. Never had a SMS/genesis untill now , that why I like nintendo more.

Hey dudes,

I'm up in Nova Scotia, Canada.

Started collecting NES games about 4 months ago, getting closer to 200 cart mark!

Along with the NES games, I pick up my favorite games for all the other systems as well as the systems themselves!

My wife says I spend too much time collecting games and not enough time enjoying them. We'll see about that when I get my hands on a Wii!

It's hard to stay warm. My igloo had a partial collapse last night. I'll have to spend all day rebuilding it!

Hey all- RJ here. Found this link on Digital Press forums, member there for about 4 yrs. Also on AtariAge for a bit longer.

Got a Yobo not too long ago, enjoying the NES games I missed in my youth (I'm 35), considered myself an ATARI guy until Sony Playstation came along, then I kinda opened up to all systems.

Hope to be humorous & helpful to all here.

Glad to see you made it to these forums Rick

I realize I haven't introduced myself yet, either. I'm Pieter, aka Speedy_NES on the various gaming and NES forums, and I'm currently in Belgium, studying in the Netherlands. I spent about a year collecting NES stuff when I was 12 or 13, and started collecting again around May, 2005, so about a year and a half ago. Most of you know I'm into NES accessories, and it's gonna stay that way until I have them all

Good to see a lot of familiar faces signing up

I guess I should try to introduce myself as well even though I've been here since basically the beginning - which really wasn't too long ago. lol I'm David but am known everywhere else as Hounder and I'm sure most of you know that. I've always loved the NES but it wasn't until about 2 1/2 years ago that I actually started collecting. I collect mainly complete and sealed NES games and hope to get a complete NTSC set of both genres even if it takes me until I'm 100

I'm also a Color Dreams fanatic. I'm trying learn as much about them as I can. I don't know why but I just have to. I'm in the process of making a variations list of Color Dream games and up to I think 84 variants now. So if you have or know of a variant that's not on the list and have proof of it, then please let me know!

Good point, Hounder -- I suppose I've never introduced myself either

Dain here, I've been a NES collector for about 7 years and I currently reside in Hillsborough, NC (near Chapel Hill). Around 4 years ago I sold off my collection, minus some rare stuff, and picked it up again about 2 years ago. I've been a member of DP and NESWorld for a while, though I think my old username was Giskard instead. I was mostly a lurker, which is why most of you don't know me.

This site was supposed to be up around 4 years ago (whoops!), but due to some rough issues regarding my health, it never took flight, and that's when I sold off the collection.

I've been a web programmer by trade for about 10 years now, and the people I work for (Terra Dotta) were kind enough to lend me a server to host this on (thanks guys).

At any rate, welcome everyone -- I hope to have another great community here.

Welcome, Dain lol

My name is Dan, 29 from PA, USA. I've been seriously collecting for 1-2 yrs, but accumulating games since childhood. I still play on my original toaster that I got in 1988. I'm currently at about 450 loose carts incl. variants.

I own a CCG/tabletop gaming store called Head Games, in a shopping mall, that sells Magic and Warhammer among other notable non-electronic games. The NES is my secret affair though, and I have to divide my time between my two lovers, as they are jealous.

I'm currently dabbling in NES programming with the eventual goal of releasing a homebrew cart. The guys at Atariage.com have 'em, we should too darnit. I'm starting simple with a DDR port (DDR being my other fun hobby pasttime). We'll see where it goes from there.

Favorite games: Lolo, Big Nose 2, Flintstones 2, Micro Machines, Solar Jetman

Hi, My name is Tim and I use the handle pseudonym on DP and a few other sites.

I'm 24 and currently a university student here in Winnipeg, MB, Canada.

I first got an NES in 1987 along with a few games. We couldn't afford to buy much of the good (aka cool) NES games back then so I ended up with quite a bit of bargain-bin games. Most of them were pretty good until I got Raid 2020
.

I've been casually picking up NES games since 1999. I've been seriously collecting NES since 2003-04 after a few big finds really peaked my interest in collecting as a whole. I sold nearly all of my loose carts awhile back to pay some bills but it's getting big again. Right now I'm at 350 boxed/complete games and about 50 loose games.

One day I'll get a complete NTSC collection and maybe move onto Euro and Famicom games.

My mantra, as worded by SamSpade on 06/12/12:
I don't resell to fund my collection, I don't treat this hobby like a second job, I don't care if my collection is worth ten bucks or ten thousand because I never plan on selling it. Seriously, what does the value have to do with anything if you never plan on selling? Speculation doesn't mean jack shit to me at this point, I just want to play my nes games...

I suppose I could introduce myself as well

My name is Mark, age 24, I'm from Minnesota. I've been hooked on Nintendo since even before I actually had one as a kid, I hoarded my friends instead
Finally in '89 or '90 we got one for christmas. Nintendo Power had some deal going on at the time where you got Dragon Warrior for free for subscribing, so that, along with Tetris and SMB/Duck Hunt of course were my first games. This must be why Dragon Warrior is so damn common

Anyways, I've been in the nes/snes "scene" since the late 90's, mostly on the emulation side of things. Sometime around 2001, I picked up a huge lot of carts for cheap, and that started my desire to collect NES games. I didn't have a lot of money to pursue the hobby to much back then, so I would only pick up things here and there. Last fall when CopyNES was made "widely" available, I bought and built one up and started a new dumping project. Since then, I have amassed a pretty large collection in a short period of time. Most NTSC / US games have been redumped along with all techinical information recorded in the process.

You can check it out for yourself here. Just recently Dain and I decided to merge our projects together here. It will be a while until the transition is fully complete, but don't let that stop you from submitting carts! If you have a CopyNES and some carts, don't be shy!
