Nice going! Yeah, it really does get tense on the final level after all that point racking. It's like "I do NOT wanna do that again, so I better not die!".

I wonder, does the scoreboard freeze at 999,999 on this game? Or is it even possible to get those last few points?

I wonder as well, which is why I took multiple pics at several different times near the end, just in case I happened to go over a million and it was one of those games that rolled the score, because that would have totally sucked since I didn't have video on it. Oh, if there's a way and willing, I'm sure you'll find it. I did leave a little bit of room for improvement. My score can be beaten. I'd do it myself but I gotta work today, so leaves it open for someone else to beat.

I never played this game before. Screen shot of my first try. Need to figure out how to fight a certain guys. I might try a few more times, but atm there's a lot of things I need to do.

Here's my entry for the week.  I'd do more, but there are some unfortunate circumstances surrounding my absence this week.

There's one place that if you are going for maximum points that you don't want to use the nunchaku at all, the green ninja boss. Charge up your punch, hit 'im hard with this each time and you get more chances at killing more of his clones, each clone being worth 1000 points. I've always used the super punch through pretty much the whole game every time I play Bad Dudes, this is my main attack, other attacks, regular punches, kicks, weapons, those are just in case I don't have enough time to charge my punches. Only time I solely use nunchaku is with the flail and stick fighter bosses because its range allows for a safer battle against them, other than them, super punch everything that gets in my way. What's nice about this attack is that even though it takes a few moments to charge up, even while letting loose, you can immediately start charging up again for another one, and it plows through rows of enemies, including shuriken from the gray ninja. If you get the chance, try out fighting that green ninja with nunchaku only and then with charged up punches only, you'll see where the scoring difference comes from.

By the way, you totally rock. I was at work today and wondering about, will I come home tonight and suddenly see my score blown away, I was a little bit worried, rdrunner is going to go at it again and mow me down. Even if you had, I would have accepted defeat against such a worthy opponent. With that score you submitted, I could not just let my score stand as was, you got me motivated to get even better at this game, thank you.

That is what I've been missing out on in this contest this year (life shit kept me depressed therefore kept me away for a while - I missed Kung Fu yet again). Being able to compete against others helps motivate, gives you something more to push for, someone else to beat (or lose against) other than your own personal score, improving one's own gaming skills through these experiences. But also I see others, showing off scores, some showing multiple times from starting out with really low scores to getting better at the game with pretty good scores that show the making of an awesome gamer, and for some odd reason I feel happy for them as it it were I myself achieving those points, getting better each time, and not giving up, continuing to try to excel, may not seem like much to some, but to me its something to be proud of.

I think you can. Seeing how you were doing with Marble Madness, going from suck ass scores of the typical beginner (myself included, 'cause serious Marble Madness is not an easy game) to possible near top high score contender, yeah, play it right and you can be a Bad Dude too.

I don't have it either. I went to the local retro game shop today to see if they had a copy and I didn't have any luck. I really need to start checking out the game contest lists in advance so I have time to pick them up.

I got you down for 5th place, Dave, so all is good.  Will get the leaderboard updated tomorrow.  Haven't had a lot of time for the computer since I got back from North Carolina last night.  Block 6 starts this Sunday night.

The leaderboards are now all currently up to date. Congratulations to dev(2) for being the winner of Block 5 and earning a spot in the tournament. Block 6 will start on September 16 and will be a very special block. Twin Galaxies record holder Tom Votava (rdrunner here on NA) is going to challenge us for Block 6 and has come up with the games and rules for all six games. He has some fun challenges and scenarios in store for everyone, which should make Block 6 very exciting

We've done Halloween themed games in the past for October, which was always a lot of fun. Of the last six games we have planned, I will pick the most Halloween oriented one for that week.

Wow, I didn't know that trick with the green ninja boss.  No wonder your scores were so high.  Even before we started pressing, I was surprised how your scores were around 720k.  Mine were just under 700k without knowing about this, and the scoring difference was evident again in the end.  Thanks for the tip!

Thanks for the compliments too.  I was out of town over the weekend, but I considered playing again when I saw your score.  Couldn't figure out where to find the points though.  Great job on nailing this one!

Anyway, glad we were about to motivate each other on this.  I like to compete here for the same reasons you described above.  Gaming on its own is fun, but competition makes it even better!

Hope you stick around for the next block.  As Bimmy mentioned, I have cooked up some nice little challenges for the coming weeks.  We still need another tournament qualifier!

Just a note to everyone that a lot of you can still qualify for a tournament spot through the genre leaderboards. We have six open tournament spots, one for each genre, that need to be filled in the coming weeks. A few of the leaders in the genre leaderboards have already secured a tournament spot, which means the next highest person on each genre leaderboard who has not secured a tournament spot can earn one. Everyone check the genre leaderboards to see where you stand and go for that tournament spot

Yesterday afternoon I gave Bad Dudes one more try, this time to record my gameplay. I knew that I left room for improvement during the contest, but I did much better than I thought I would, this time without point racking totally whomped my previous high score of 726,100 (again my highest score without the racking, and seriously point racking is very boring, even more so to watch it, so I avoided it this game). This time, my highest score yet 732,400 (would've if I racked for points been over 973,000)! This was easily my best game of Bad Dudes, so glad I decided to record this run, pretty exciting to watch too.

Took over 4 hours to upload this 28 minute video! Geez.
