Some light iron pumping done, a nice shower was had along with some dinner and some booze.

The scores will likely be lower because the 1up trick is forbidden for the Tournament, where a big chunk of the points can be earned. I'm sure we'll be completely impressed with some socres done even with that rule though, it will certainly be interesting.

The master of SMB in NA history is 2Legit29Bit, he did 1,844,700 in 2012, Robin Mihara actually asked him for video proof when he saw his score, lol.

Fun fact, the 2012 SMB contest was the first entry of Tom Votava in NA contest  




I'm not sure what the 1 up trick is, so I guess my 2016 score would qualify by tournament rules. I was just happy to beat the game on 1 life and score over a million points. If I saw that 1.84 million score, I'm not sure that I would have been able to believe my eyes either!

I had to play as Luigi a lot as a kid. The other neighborhood kids didn't like me getting to go first and having to wait for me to beat the game before they got a turn.

People's Champ better get on improving his score because I am already ready to overtake him.  

Minor update while we wait the people's champ to drop his bomb today.  

Not bad for a practice run. Since Arnpoly started to take this seriously, I had to as well.
Farmed turtles at other spots to massively increase my score.
6-2 helped a lot, but I did poorly at 8-4. Still, I am the 1.2 million points girl!  
Also, I am wondering just how many hats I will be able to fit on my picture till Sunday.

Did a bit better on the castles and overall, but still not good enough.

It is getting more and more difficult to squeeze points out of this.
Getting the hang of it. Kickle, booze and a lack of clothing helped.  

This is better, but still not quite it.
I need to improve my game, and Traitor's day tomorrow will provide me with the perfect opportunity to do so.

Well... that didn't go quite as planned.
Didn't even had 1,000,000 points before starting 8-1. Far from it.
Forgot to set things up to record this run, but I will record my next one tomorrow or Wednesday.
No turtles were hopped to achieve this score, but sadly, tons of goombas had to be sacrificed in order to attain it.

I'm surprised how some of you guys don't know what the 1-up trick means exactly, don't you guys had an older brother/cousin that used to amaze the house pulling the trick and getting over 100 lives in SMB? This was an obligatory NES ritual back then!

Why it is forbidden for this Final? Because we want to reward efforts in finding ways to make more points aside of these very productive spots.

So if I thought I could place, I'd have to do x number of loops of every Bowser castle from world 4 on, just to scratch together all those points. Well, have fun with that guys!

Are there enemies you can keep killing? I don't even remember. I tried playing some Mario today and whiffed on 3-4.

This can definitely be a strategy to make more points, especially since you don't get points from the clock in castle.
