I ordered a USB adapter last night so I can play using my NES controller, but, it'll be too late by the time I get it, but at least I'll have it for whenever I'm playing on emulator. The handicap thing was refering to not having a controller. Hopefully that adapter works well so I'm be ready for any contest that I so choose to play cart or emulator.

I was going to do this challenge, but when I can't beat level 3 cause of some cheap fireballs I think that means I'll put my hat up for today. Best of luck to all though.

On a more serious note, I've played EarthBound today for so long, I feel all tense and mentally worn out.
Then you called your mother and felt better?

Sweet. I didn't expect to win off of one attempt. I haven't really participated this year 'til now (obviously). I plan on playing more next year, that was fun. The only problem is that I refuse to emulate and since I'm in college, my games are divided up. Maybe I'll compromise next year... who knows.

Well, finally got my retro-bit adaptor in. Was so eager to test this thing out. Set the buttons in the emulator, gave the game a couple tries. First time, round 10 but found how best to deal with this stage. Second time, round 19, actually had it beat, but Baron Von Blubba got me a moment after I killed the last baddie. Not bad at all. If I would've had this thing days before end of contest I would have gotten far. At this score below though, still think I'm a little too high, grabbed a few bonuses that I shouldn't have. So long as this thing works as it should with every game, I shouldn't have anymore excuses, unless I simply don't want to play a game.

Yep! Didn't have time to test it except for those two games of Bubble Bobble before I left out for work earlier today, but got home a little while ago and tried it out with some others, Burai Fighter to try out the diagonals and every which way all worked as it should effortlessly. Little Samson, and Castlevania 3, testing out wall climbing since I had difficulty even with the pc controller I had in moving smoothly from one wall angle to another, this test though felt just like playing on my NES, both Samson and Grant climbing walls, around corners and across ceilings no problem. And Ninja Gaiden, shimmying up walls, all good. So I should be able to compete for everything even if I don't have the game, so long as I choose to, anyway, all options are open now.

Great to hear Megan. The absolute test would be playing Marble Madness. Personally, this is THE game I absolutely need to play on the real thing or I'm unsatisfied with the controller's response. That and maybe mash-button games like Track & Field.

Ah, how could I forget Marble Madness! Will give it a good test run in a little bit then.

Okay, while I had some trouble playing well at first, once I figured out how to enlarge the screen without it freezing up or glitching I played a bit better. Gave it 10 full game test runs, my best being the score below. Of coarse given I kept trying I'm confident that I could play a perfect run as I am capable of doing, but, not into driving myself nuts over Marble Madness again so soon after the last contest with this game.

I think I got a winner, now hopefully after a time the adaptor continues to work as it is now, $15 isn't cheap for me, but if it continues to perform well over a year, several years or more, then I got me money's worth for sure.

I bought the same retrobit adapter a while back and couldn't be happier with it. I love playing all those games with a real controller!
