HTTP is the normal way your computer and a server exchange info. A website's data is transmitted unencrypted in "plaintext," as well as all of your activity on that site. With the advent of public internet connections and WiFi, this means peers and other people can snoop your traffic including usernames and passwords. The S in HTTPS is for "secure" because it creates an encrypted tunnel between your computer and the website. A snoop can still see what servers your are communicating with and when, but the content of the intercepted data will be all gibberish.

I first noticed it on my laptop with the last Firefox update and I literally just noticed it in Google Chrome on my phone as well. I'm not tech savvy at all so I'm not really sure what HTTP/HTTPS means or what the differences are.

Says because the connection between you and Nintendoage is insecure/unecrypted otherwise if NA used HTTPS instead then you wouldn't have that message pop out.
