Yup, great job to everyone. Anything over 150k is good, and special kudos to those over 200k. Beating Level 24 is a HUGE hump in this game!

I experimented with this the last few races I had done when I was trying to understand the seemingly randomness of the super speed that yellow car was getting, so one game decided to be a pacifist and not attack any cars, and that yellow car never got aggressive, but the moment I did, that very same track when I bombed the blue car but accidently bombed the yellow car with it that yellow car went berserk on me, blurred right by, but the rest of the game up to track 24 no other light speed boosts from it, except by that point all of the cars regular speeds had well exceeded mine so I had to start attacking so that I didn't fall into 4th place, but did anyway, almost right away since my aim with the missiles sucks. And while missiles are great, bombs are a better choice in keeping you ahead of the pack, afterall you want the other cars to stay behind you at all times so you are less likely to lose, thank goodness they don't use weapons though. The game takes a lot of strategy, its just not easy at the speeds it gets up to think and react well.

Interesting, I didn't notice that but I noticed that the yellow car was significantly faster with good or very good road conditions but fairly average with standard or poor conditions. Because of this, I found that it's easiest to get first place when there are many oil slicks or puddles as long as you know how to avoid them.

Good job everyone! Now that it is over....express your hate for that yellow car!
By the last few courses (for me) that stupid yellow car was winning the races by a half of a lap. The only way I could stay alive was to keep blowing up the blue car (it seems to be the slowest) and hoping for a third place finish so I could keep playing.

I think I figured out the secret to the late levels. The enemy cars are super-fast, but they're also predictable. In fact, they always take the exact same path around a given track every time. If you follow that path yourself, you can line up your shots to keep them behind you (I prefer bombs to missiles, since you don't have to wait for them to pass you). Only problem is that shooting the cars pisses them off, making them even faster. All it takes is one miss and you lose.

Also, even if your stats are maxed out, collecting other tires, engines, turbos, will make you faster. ]]>

Yeah, I don't totally understand his rant too, he did quite good in this contest.

Poor Megan, you fell in 6th place with a great score Yeah, but that's okay, I did well. I would have liked to had gotten over 200 thousands, but also didn't put in the effort enough, played around 20 games of it for the week, left it at that, even though I had all night Saturday to surpass my highest, my nerves were shot to hell and I would've just ended up getting worst the longer I played it. But it was fun while it lasted, just can't play too much of it at a time because this game requires full concentration at all times, any instant where you lose that and you can lose the race.

I found this funny. What the hell?! You totally kick ass at this game. Sure not no where near as high as the 3 scores ahead of yours, but you beat me.

Updated score. I don't understand how everyone gets such high scores for this game. I have a better chance of beating I wanna be the guy with no lives lost on my first try. I have a better chance of being struck by lighting three times than avoiding the oil spills scattered throughout the game.

Hell, everyone is getting high scores for every game I entered. I must not be very good at games. Why do I even compete, then? I find no enjoyment since I'm always losing. I only parttake to give these random games sitting around a try. My personal best on 1-life Gradius was like 427K, but I know, oh, I KNOW, that someone will get like over 9 billion god damned points. D:<

Some people are just a different breed. This is the second contest (also 1 at twin galaxies) where I gathered all the games, then saw Votava was playing and said screw it This time I had a equipment issue, but lets just say I stopped trying to replace it when I realized it would take me 5 hours a day minimum to get up to speed... and even that speed probably couldnt hang with Tom.
There's just something painful about finishing behind for some folks.

if anyone is ever up for a "i have 2 kids and go to school" contest where you get 30 mins every other day to play a game you havent touched in 20 years.... I'm totally game.
