It seems like NESruler has been running a good stream of contests in the Gamer's Gauntlet, though. It might be neat if he summarized them in an eZine article, since some pretty incredible records have been set so far. ]]>

Since we have a couple of weeks to discuss it before the December issue, I think we should get all three tiers of the contest ready this time.

Challenge ad to be published in December 2008 issue.
Winners to be published in January 2009 issue.

NA Power Player Challenge:

High Score: ??? (Do we want to still go with a Dr. Mario challenge?)

Time Attack: ??? (Maybe best time on a specific level of Mario 3?)

Challenge Attack: ??? (Beat Legend of Zelda with as few heart containers as possible, rings count as extra hearts (blue is 2x and red is 4x your actual heart count), no potions allowed -- i.e. don't even get the letter)

My suggestions are above...everybody else interested in contributing please weigh in.

Joseph - I believe he was leaving it up to us. I've already opened the floor to enlist anybody who wants to help run this thing...and I think this is it. It's you and me (and maybe Lost Eyeball). So clean up that awesome Dr. Mario ad, so Dan can sling it into this month's eZine and let people know how we're going to start separating the men from the boys around here!

EDIT to add: if you want to choose a lower starting level (since we're going for infinite play High Score) then that might get more people into it.

Whats this maybe? Of course im in...If you guys use Msn add me [email protected]

Just making sure you're still on the crew!

I don't use messenger, personally, but I guess I'll get it set up at some point.

For this run, if we're only doing the high score on Dr. Mario, the one email address I've set up with be sufficient for now.

Next time around I'll be sure I set up referee credentials for each portion of the contest, so we can divvy up the judging workload.

If you want to contribute prior to that, we need to start compiling a list of worthwhile Time Attack items, as well as some nasty Challenge Event items.
