I haven't seen this season of GOT yet, but I have seen all the rest. My feelings are largely the same as most people, the show has gotten worse from roughly season 5 onwards for the seasons I have seen. After all the reactions here and elsewhere, I'm in no rush to see this one.

BUT, here's a question: is there a show where the final season IS the best one? I've been racking my brains to think of all the great (and even not great) shows, and I CANNOT think of a single show where the final season is the best... Anyone have any?

Absolutely Breaking Bad.
Yup

I thought the ending could have been better, but still not as bad as the internet makes it out to be.

Would have liked to see Arya kill Dany, thought it would have been cooler if she stole Grey Worms face and did it or something.

Out of curiosity how long have you been watching week to week?

I ask because a good friend of mine just binge watched the whole show up until the final 3 episodes, then watched it week to week.  He thought it was great but had a very basic understanding of all the storylines and really wasn't emotionally invested.  His feelings of the finale are drastically different than mine and I think I've simply invested exponentially more time enjoying and analyzing different components.

Your point about the faces is a good one, there's an example that really bothered me - we basically didn't get to see any twists with Arya using someone elses face for 2 seasons.  They even made it a point for Sansa to find her bag of faces and everything.  Yes, they did that for the Littlefinger bit last season, but that's a huge variable in the show that just got scrapped completely when it mattered the most.
Weekly since season six, but own all seasons on DVD (watched first five over 1-2 years).

I dont get that emotionally invested in shows though, just use them for entertainment then move on.

When did i say they were great?

i said im tired of the hyperbole language, and incorrect nitpicking. Seen a bunch of comments about the wall being “rebuilt”. They were at castle black. Wall came down at eastwatch. If you are going to nitpick atleast be accurate.

didnt you say after episode 4 that they needed to “move along on tge story already.” Made no sense then and still makes no sense.

you should have loved this season then because all they did was push the story quickly.

You keep bringing this up so I’ll explain it to you.
There were many things that needed to happen in the final season for a successful ending. Instead of finishing stories that they started and worked on for the previous 7 seasons they wasted time.
Most ends were left loose or forgotten.
Yes they needed to move fast as there was only 1 season left but they needed to move towards wrapping up loose ends many of which they never did.

I thought Drogon will fly to Night Watch Wall and be with John?
Also, where did John go? I thought he was suppose to say at the wall and welcome newcomers as they come? ]]>
